Projects

I struggle sometimes with perfectionism when i build stuff, so i often complain about stuff that is probably just fine and will work for years. But then everyone else usually says its good lol. But i know the truth !!

Technically, I’m not supposed to be sharing this yet, but I wanted to give this shout out to all the awesome people who populate this site, and @peter in particular for building such an awesome community.

P.S. I’ll be able to share stuff like the cover etc from December 5th.

Now that I’ll start teaching Manufacturing Processes for Biomedical applications at college level (more on that later), I’ll make one of my projects to have a small prototyping lab at home. At the moment, my ideal home setup will consist on

  • a 3D printer
  • Magnetic stirrer w/heat
  • Optical microscope
  • an airbrush + air compressor
  • electrical testers and that kind of thingies (maybe even an oscilloscope)
  • kinect/3d scanner

But I’m really open to suggestions, as it’s the first time I’ve even asked myself what to have for any of this. It always kind of felt like a dream/delusion and now it might actually happen? Anyhow, if you think there might be stuff that could be useful/fun for this type of project, I’m all ears.

Oh man, I would LOVE a 3D printer. I see all these plans for models and such, I’d love to print them out and paint them.

As you all know I am currently trying to move this coming year, and get an apartment with my girlfriend. As such, I am desperately trying to save up money. Therefore, I’ve put two different ten percent off coupons out there on my storefront for my graphic novel and my last novel. I am also getting close to putting out a new novel coming early this year! So, if you’re interested in helping me get out of my awful situation, live with someone loves me unconditionally and go to therapy, please consider buying my work. All proceeds go directly to moving expenses etc. Thank you.

Today’s the day folks. I can officially share a few more deets on The History of SEGA.

First up, here’s the cover.

The book goes up for per-order in June 2025 for a September 2025 release. It’ll be available from the publisher’s website as well as Amazon and other stores (although the others are yet to be confirmed).

Initially the book will release in hardcover for approx £30 (they might have it for a bit cheaper during the per-order period). It’ll come in at approx 216 pages (63, 125 words).

I’ve also recieved a PDF-proof of the interior layout of the book and it looks pretty good. It needs a few small tweaks, but one that’s done then it’ll go into the pipeline for printing.

Obviously I’ll keep you guys posted on any other updates as and when.

I believe most of their sales in the US go via Amazon (it’ll be available on the various regional variations of the site), but there may be other stores as well. I’ll be able to let you know closer to release.

Okay so, this is the Mega Bloks Xbox 360 kit, coming in at nearly 1400 pieces. Its not a hard build overall, and the details are really spot on…however i was missing a few key pieces to complete the kit, hence one side middle panel looking somewhat funky. I found this to be a bit disappointed for a set that retails for 150 usd.

Reading over some others reviews it seems to commonly not be complete, missing pages from the manual, or have broken light elements. So this might be a set only for those with huge nostalgia for the X360, but it is a pretty slick display piece.

I havent bought many Mega Bloks kits as i usually dont enjoy the build quality and feel of their kits and pieces as much, but this one is admittedly pretty cool. Its total build includes the controller, the console, a mini halo 3 with disc, and several light up elements. Some areas of the build feel a little flimsy but some slight modifications could help with this. I also appreciate that any detailing or text is printed directly on the blocks and not stickers like used to be common.

That is pretty awesome, but missing pieces in a new product like that is a totally unacceptable. Can you contact the company and ask if they can send you the missing pieces? I bought the Sonic Monopoly a few years back and all the little characters had their arms broken. Contacted the Monopoly Company and they sent out replacements, free of charge. Hopefully these guys will do the same.

So the project is coming together. The 3D printer is already waiting for a bit of space to be assembled, and will now have company from a magnetic stirrer w/heat, an airbrush, glassware, and some chemicals (lol). The downside is that some of it won’t be at my home but at my work place, as I actually need a bit of it to start doing some research.

Something I’ve been thinking of lately is possibly creating a Substack (which is a kind of social platform for writers for those who may not know) to expand the SEGA book when it comes out. There are quite a few things I’d have loved to have covered in the book but had to cut due to space.

However, there are already SO many great SEGA fan sites/podcasts/YouTubes out there I don’t know if it would be worth doing.

There’s Dreamcast Junkyard, SEGA Guys, SEGA-16, SEGABits, SEGA Driven, and that’s just the SEGA-spercific ones, there are hundreds of retro gaming general things out there as well.

So yeah, I’m just not sure if it’s worth putting something into an already pretty large pool, especially as it is, by it’s very natura, most likely going to be covering the same stuff. :man_shrugging:

If its something you feel passionate about its still potentially worth doing. Also it might be the same topics at times, but your writing is unique to you. So even if someone has heard about it before, they may enjoy the way you present it more, or it may make more sense in the way you explain it.

I guess it’s my third second passion? Lol. First passion is writing fiction, but I’ve not put that out there anywhere yet. My second passion is writing about comics and collectibles, but going by the stats of my current pieces no one else cares about that. :disappointed:

SEGA is a close third, but I only say that because I feel I’m still very much learning about them. I’d put it after fiction, really, but I felt a response to your post needed it to be decided a bit more.
