First game(s) of 2018

So there are a few retrospective posts about how 2017 has gone, what we’ve played, what we liked, but what about next year?

What are the games that are on your list for 2018, either to start or to finish?

I’ll start:

Already started, intend to finish

  • Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild (what is there to say, it’s huge)
  • Legend Of Zelda: Minish Cap (I think I may have played too much Zelda in 2017 so finding it a bit of a slog)
  • Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World
  • Shantae & The Pirate’s Curse (although may finish that before the end of 2017 at the this rate)

To start

  • Rune Factory 4
  • Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past (after BotW and MC)
  • New Style Boutique: Fashion Forward
  • Mario & Luigi Dream Team Bros

Not quite sure what I have in store for 2018. Not yet at least. I’ll revisit this once Christmas and Boxing Day have passed

Edit: now that I think about it, there are a few games that I picked up in 2017 that I will likely want to dig into this year:

  • Final Fantasy XII
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • World of Final Fantasy
  • Fallout 4
  • Stardew Valley
  • Star Fox Zero

We’ll see what I have to add to that list in a few days.

  1. Bloodborne DLC
  2. Rest of the Souls franchise including DLC
  3. Uncharted 3 and 4
  4. Portal 2 (I know I suck)
  5. Half Life 2 (I’m scum of the Earth)
  6. Metal Gear Solid (Hate me yet?)
  7. Final Fantasy 7 (I am trash)
  8. Metroid Prime 3
  9. Devil May Cry 4
  10. Whatever I want after

And this is assuming I finished all of the games I am playing now and put on hold.

The only certified 2018 game that’s got my eye is Monster Hunter: World. I took the release weekend off so I could have 72 uninterrupted hours of hunting. I should probably eat and sleep a little too, but that hopefully won’t be necessary.

They don’t have release dates yet, but I’m eager to see what Guacamelee 2 and Spelunky 2 have in store. Fingers crossed for early 2018 releases.

As far as finishing games go, I’d like to revisit Super Mario Galaxy and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. I put a good amount of time into both, but didn’t really finish either.

There’s also Hollow Knight. Every time I think I’m nearing the end, I find two new areas to explore. Not that I’m complaining, I’ve had a great time with the game. I thought I’d have finished it by the end of the year, but that doesn’t seem likely at this point.

Well I’m playing Persona 5 right now. Getting Sonic Forces and Metroid Samus Returns for Christmas so that will be first

Haha, yeah, I have a list of games I really need to pick up again but there’s always some new shiny thing to distract me…

I have a few extra games to add to my list of games to play in 2018, as of today:

  • Nier Automata
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins
  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • Hellblade

Let me know how Origins is. Heard good about Nier. Horizon is fantastic, take my word. No opinion on Hellblade, don’t know enough about it.

My mountain of shame is huge! I have to play Tales of Monkey Island nad Heavy Rain. And I’ve seen box edition of Syberia 3 for 10$ in local shop, but I’m afraid of spoiling my best memories

I’ve reduced my shame mountain recently by going through my put-down-for-now-to-come-back-to-later-honest games list and deciding which ones of them I’ll ever actually go back to and removing the rest from my backlog and/or playing list. Still have quite a stack, though.

I started a second playthrough of Pillars of Eternity because I love that game so much. :'D Probably gonna play a lot of R6Siege too.

I still have some games on my backlog but I’m really looking forward to play the Shadow of the Colossus remake since I haven’t played it on either PS2 or PS3 (I already have the ICO and SotC collection for the PS3)

looks like it will be the may 2017 version of Cho Ren Sha 68K (not on gb/grouvee)

I want to finish Banjo-Kazooie, the last game on my N64 backlog, Alan Wake, and Retro Game Crunch before my winter break ends. Once I’m back in college, I want to play through South Park TFBW and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

I need to finish this too lol. So many people get on me for not having finished it yet.

Already back at the university here lol… I miss games already

Once I get a new laptop I’m planning on downloading Ori and the Blind Forest. I bought it a couple weeks ago but need an up to date computer to play on. My Intel Core I3 from 2014 won’t cut it, barely processes Bastion well.

Also I would like to make a dent in Chrono Trigger on Retropie. I built a Pigrrl and need to use it more.

Despite my best efforts, seems like the only games I play are card games (online or physical). My PS4 and Retropie machine are severely neglected. Not sure if I should try to fight my urge to just play PC card games or just go with it…

Plus, you should use it as an excuse to join the Chrono Trigger Holiday Classic

Is it due to a lack of games, or a lack of interest?

Ori is so good! I just finished up a second playthrough of the Definitive Edition. It’s hard as shit in spots, but it’s really good.

I’ve gone through spells like this. My wife and I used to play a lot of Dominion and Ascension until she got too good and started kicking my butt all the time

I’m in the same boat on the RetroPie. I’ve not turned it on at all in a while. And I’ve got one of those Analogue Super NTs coming, which is just silly.

Lol. I’m almost embarrassed to say I’ve not been using it either. I got an Open Source Scan Converter, and I like it a little better.
