I am a gamer. Most people hear that term and think "Oh, you play lots of video games". No; being a gamer is more than that. Being a gamer is yes, a person who plays and enjoys video games but being a gamer is also being part of a growing social community. This community is filled with wonderful people who are also gamers who look at games and appreciate them as an art form, an entertainment form and as a way to bring people together. Games and gamers have a complex bond that creates a balance between the gamers desire to play the game, the challenge the game introduces to the gamer, the feelings the game invokes in the gamer and the pleasure and accomplishment the gamer experiences when they completes a task within the game. Gamers live for that good feeling of success and the feeling that it was their skill and their dedication that allowed them to obtain success. Gamers want others to know this feeling and therefore share their gaming experiences with friends, family and strangers on the internet; creating and building the massive community we know today. There are challenges to being a gamer like becoming victim to labels like "lazy", fat nerd" or "dude bros with no life". These stereotypes do hurt though sometimes are true but that doesn't mean these "fat nerds" and "dudebros" are even gamers in the first place. Anyone can play a video game but its different if you take interest in the gaming community and actively participate in it. If you appreciate and applaud those who make games and have great memories of playing those games: You are a GAMER. It doesn't matter if your loyal to a company or console or even if your a "pc elitist", as long as you don't hate and can appreciate the other platforms and genres of games out there: You are a GAMER. If it doesn't matter to you that a game is from 1986 with 8-bit graphics our came out last month in full 1080p HD and you enjoy both: You are a GAMER. If you back game projects on kickstarter or enjoy indie games from developers you never even heard about: You are a GAMER. But these statements aren't RULES that people have to follow to be considered a "gamer". These statements are just examples that apply to some gamers. A gamer isn't just a strict category, limited to certain people; there are TONS of different kinds of gamers like the Retro Gamers, PC Gamers, Tourney Gamers, Otaku Gamers, Casual Gamers, Artistic Gamers, Open- Minded Gamers, Online Gamers and SO MUCH MORE. So with all this talk, what is a gamer and what gamer am I? A gamer is a person who plays and LOVES video games. The keyword is LOVE. That is what gamers are: we are the passionate lovers of video games. I am STEFYGLP and love games of many kinds but here is a list of my favorites. full list: https://docs.google.com/document/d/18LIriHm-a7p9ADzEPBUNHHaeCG5tBlWhGUY6cSLHtdg/pub
