Mine is probably self explanatory for anyone who watched Adventure Time. If not, my name and profile pic is in reference to BMO from the show. Description excerpted from the Fandom Wiki entry on BMO:
BMO (abbreviated from “B e MO re,” phonetically spelled "Beemo ", also referred to as Moe Mastro “Llabtoof” Giovanni Jr. and called the "New King of Ooo " in the future) is one of the main characters of Adventure Time and also the titular main protagonist of the Distant Lands episode of the same name. BMO is a living prototype video game console system, portable electrical outlet, computer, music player, VCR, video player, video editor, roommate, camera, alarm clock, toaster, flashlight, strobe light, skateboarder, soccer player, tape player, chef, detective and friend who is owned by Finn…BMO is characterized as a loyal, trusting and helpful robot who is protective of Finn and Jake.
I found it ages ago, but I can’t find the source anymore. If I do a reverse image search it doesn’t show up, other than as a playlist cover on 8tracks (because it’s from my own account). If I could find the original artist I wish I could compensate them for my years of use.
I mainly had usernames based on variations of my name, but I never really identified with them. I also typically just created myself in games that had character creators, which got dull to me. So, when I was playing Monster Hunter World for the first time, I chose crazy blue hair to prevent me from falling into that routine, and wanted a name to match. The nicknames of older US figures that fall into the format: First Name “Random Descriptive Word” Last Name where the person ends up being called some random word that is not a nickname plus their last name were always catchy to me. So Paycheck Stevens was born. Totally random, popped into my head, and I have stuck with it since. I don’t like numbers in names so it has been a great 5-6 years since.
The character in my avatar is Mic. (Pronounced Mike) I drew him when I was 9 or 10 and always doodled him into my notes and paper. I’m not sure what my inspiration was, but I do know I always pictured him being the same color as the microphone that came with Mario Party 6 that plugged into the gamecube’s memory card slot. So mainly greyish white, with a white hat that has a blue stripe on the bottom section the same color as the button on the microphone. This was why I named him Mic.
Years ago I made an account on the streaming service VRV and it auto generated me the username. I actually really liked it, and I’ve used it a lot ever since.
That was probably my favorite mask in that game, so it works. I also love tigers. They’re my favorite animals. And the first syllable of my name is “ty.”
LOL. We discovered a fun new hobby which is editing Episode story screenshots to make them say funny things, and what a coincidence, I just made some talking about cats recently.
Username is pretty self explanatory in my case. As for the PFP, I just swap constantly between different versions of Mae because I am Mae and I love her <3
when I first saw your username I always thought it was like lesbian games nob, as in like an ork nob from 40k (basically a big leader guy), and it only clicked months later it was game snob. also I thought your profile picture was something VERY different a minute there.
I literally got my username from a random text generator like 15 years ago and I just never stopped using it lol. For my avatar, it’s cause Bojack Horseman is one of my favorite animated shows of all time. Though I’ve grown tired of it since I’ve had the same image for years, and there’s only space for one Bojack avatar on Grouvee… I may cede to @wardenunit there soon.
Well, i got the username from the game SOMA, it is the main antagonist, an AI. Don’t want to spoil a good terrifying story. The avatar, BoJack, is my number 1 show. It’s complexity mesmerized me. A deep layered character with flaws and a desire of setting things straight while his past hunted him every day.
User name is an homage to NES era protagonists: Mega Man, Mario, Simon Belmont as the 8 bit heroes in their respective games. 8 bit obviously being the technology capabilities of the NES. I don’t remember if its 8 bit graphics or sound.
Avatar is a pixelated picture of me at the cadet chapel in West Point. I enjoyed the chapel, liked the picture and figured hey what the hell that’ll work.
Fun fact I’ve had the same avatar since I joined Grouvee almost 9 years ago! Dang I just love this community!
