I think it might have to do with revenue and metrics, at least to some degree. I know that if I watch a video in a browser YouTube doesn’t then add it to my watch history because we don’t stay logged into YouTube when away from the actual site. That must be messing with metrics somehow. Also they don’t get paid from the YouTube Premium pot if that happens, I believe.

One of the other reasons I’ve seen cited is that people don’t want their videos embedded with a custom overlay that obscures part of the video or layers additional content in top, changing the experience without their consent.

These dudes are definitely blowing up the YouTube reacts crowd right now. I’ve listened to the new album a couple of times now. I like it for the most part. There’s a reacts guy that I do enjoy watching, Michael Palmisano, who actually breaks music down. He really couldn’t do a whole lot with this one since they’re so weird, but he did echo the same sentiment I had. I’m glad these two weirdos found each other. I know the guitar player is doing some crazy shit, but that drummer is the badass holding this all together.

I bought a cheap MP3 player that has a built-in 24-bit DAC to use with in- and over-ear monitors and I think I’ve ruined Bluetooth audio for myself. I may have opened a door that cannot be closed.
