Playing CRYMACHINA and I really can’t sing praise for the game and its soundtrack enough. When I first got to the Imitation Garden I had to just sit idle and do nothing except listen for at least ten minutes. Kind of transcendentally beautiful.

Addicted to this song, this band. Most of the songs are blackgaze with some trip hop but this one is almost all trip hop. Bought their stuff on bc today.

Putting some new headphones through their paces with my overstuffed test playlist. Have y’all got any reference songs you use to test out new equipment?

I have no confidence in my ability to hear subtle differences between various headsets, nor do I think anything I own other than some decent Chinese IEMs can really resolve nuances in music. At best I do try to listen to lossless audio to test but even then I don’t know if I’m a great judge.
Which headphones are you testing?

I don’t get too technical about it or anything, just like “do these vocals sound right, does the electric guitar sound good”, etc. If the bass on Tong Poo doesn’t sound funky as hell, then we’ve got a problem.
Testing some Juzear Defiants, they’re hilariously garish but they sound great so far!

I like those, very nice.
Ironically, I just picked up Kiwi Ears Cadenza IEMs with Tripowin Zonie IEM cable this week. Not quite as poptastic as yours but I like my purple combo:
So I was testing them but just ran through a few genres to try to hear an adequate range of highs, middles and lows. Nothing that’s a go-to song, just anything I could grab in lossless format, so a bunch of stuff from Bandcamp. Punk, post-punk, post-hardcore, Ska, shoegazing, pop, new wave, hip-hop Chiptunes, etc. etc..
What comes to mind is that I listened to some Caverns of Antimatter, Drycleaning, Antartigo Vespucci, Billy Woods, Chipzel, and the Tunic soundtrack by Lifetormed and Janice Kwan.

If y’all are sleeping on Rebecca Black, … don’t!

I love Rebecca Black, I loved her Salvation EP cause I’m more of a dance pop head when it comes to pop.
I’ve been a huge fan of Mobile Suit Gym Rat by death’s dynamic shroud.wmv and Galen Tipton, I think its my favorite album of 2026 so far.

I got a CD of 80s movies songs, that I might listen to it whilst playing Power Wash Simulator 2. It has “Ghostbusters”, “Holding Out For a Hero”, “Power of Love”, and “Don’t You Forget About Me” which a movie trailer I saw today just played
As well as many others
