This is such an awesome track
The new Bon Iver, SABLE, fABLE, continues Vernon’s track record of immersing himself in new sounds with shockingly impressive execution. The first four songs are the same four songs from his folky EP SABLE from last year. Vernon is in his wheelhouse here, and the line between these tracks and For Emma, Forever Ago is straight. A little before the halfway mark of AWARDS SEASON, he declared himself a sable, but with another, they’re the fable. And before the track ends, you understand what he means as sultry horns introduce what the rest of the album is. Maybe the world is miserable and we have been taught misery, but we can instead live the legends we make for ourselves especially with the help of others. What follows is a highly collaborative album that exits folk to vacillate between disparate joyous genres. Short Story crosses the ether to carry us to the synthy pop of Genesis in Everything is Peaceful Love. Walk Home transforms into lounge crooning over easy drums and chipmunky samples, but the album keeps its energy pumping heading into the gospel infused Day One where Vernon’s vocals (alongside Dijon and Flock of Dimes) soar to heaven through rebirth. If you stop I’ll Be There before Vernon’s vocals come in, you can imagine Anderson .Paak singing with the funky choir and keys instead. I don’t think he’s had this kind of crossover before. Other tracks have Vernon trying out other genres (including 90s pop country) to great effect. It is an incredibly uplifting listen which is particularly valuable in seasons like this. Wonderful album. This is Vernon’s Songs in the Key of Life.
My favorite Undertale song! Love this accordion cover as well:
Edit: and this orchestral version, too!
I love the addition of the Home theme in the reprise. Toby Fox is incredible.
Oh man I wanna jump in the orchestra and show that kid how to play cymbals lol
Brilliant lights on the dance floor
Harmonies softly wrapping themselves around me
Boogie back, shake it up, God gave us
Some sweet, sweet milk & honey
This text is too relatable and sad but also uplifting somehow.
Great song and great message and an artist I have not known so far. Will look into her other songs too. Thank you for posting!
In terms of soundtracks, I think Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is my Kunitsu-Gami or BG3 of 2025. Note that despite titled Sirène Battle # 2, the first video is battle music from a standard mob fight and the second video is from the boss fight.
Jason Staham in the video makes this!
