I mentioned the opening cutscene of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles on the podcast. In 5th grade, I remember creating a new save over and over so I could try to transcribe the lyrics (they were horribly inaccurate). I still prefer the original recording over the remaster’s but I’ll share both so you can decide for yourself.

That game…i tried to enjoy it but carrying the stupid orb thing really made me sour. Played it recently with a friend, original version with gbas and all. Still didnt enjoy it.

This art is what they should done for tales of the shire

It’s a flawed game and was hoping its issues would’ve been corrected in the remaster. I expected way too much sadly. I didn’t mind carrying the chalice too much in multiplayer but I also mostly played alone and so the moogle would carry it for me.

I hope everyone enjoyed hearing my stupid gay echoey voice! Thanks for having me y’all!

I totally forgot, but a while ago I made a series of posts about my favorite game music. You can find the topic here if you’re interested: https://discuss.grouvee.com/t/favorite-game-music-a-series/

I talk about some of these in the pod. I meant to keep adding as I play more games, but just never did. Maybe I’ll revisit that now.

Is there a way to adjust the volume on the page? Normally i have my volume at 10 in Windows but i have to increase it to 70 to be able to hear the podcast.

Not that i know of. It also may be my fault during editing. Depends on the episode. Initially i was volume limiting them due to the difference in peoples record volumes, but them i stopped due to people having some problems with hearing.

Yeah, I’ve noticed this too. I listen on my phone and need to have it cranked all the way up to hear it properly, but other podcasts I only need it halfway to be able to hear fine. :man_shrugging:

It may also be due to the way we record, as none of us have a true studio set up or anything. I also dont have a way to test how loud itll be before uploading it.

We’re amateurs and definitely willing to implement any audio fixes that folks are willing to recommend. God bless Ureshi for editing!

What editing software do you use? I used to use Audacity and that had the ability to increase the volume of the recorded audio. Something like that may help.

As for testing it, maybe just stick it on a phone, put something like the telly on in the background, and then play the pod and see how well you can hear it? It might not be perfect but might give you an idea.

That moment when The Only Thing They Fear is You kicks in at the Arc Complex in DOOM Eternal is the moment that it became one of my favorite things ever.

The first phases of Shido & the 3rd semester antagonist being instrumental tracks and then the lyrics kicking in Persona 5 & Royal.

That moment when the fight against Minos Prime starts in ULTRAKILL and the track kicks in.

Sorry revisiting the music topic without having had a chance to listen to the episode yet. The other more recent music experience that really hit me was in Undertale.

Though the game makes it pretty clear through various dialogue leading up to the fight, I don’t think it ever outright says that Toriel was the queen that left Asgore. The Asgore fight theme (and its intro) is already a great and emotional song, especially since most players probably don’t want to fight him. Then when the motif from the Toriel fight shows up it’s a real gut punch about all the loss this guy has experienced. Great game and soundtrack, but that’s old news to most, I’m sure.

Edit: Blurred Spoiler… Guess I forgot all those tutorials.

you can spoil on the forums, you just gotta click the cog on the righthand of the bar above the text box, scroll to the bottom of the submenu, and click blur spoiler.

We actually chat Undertale* and Toby Fox a little on the pod!

I couldn’t pull the lyrics for Last Surprise from my brain puddle, but I wanted to mention when she sings “You’ll never see it cominggggggg” as a video game music moment. Every time I tried to pull those lyrics, I kept thinking instead of Mario Odyssey’s “Jump Up Superstar”, and I fear things may just be broken up there in the old thinker.

My “best of Sonic” playlist currently sits at 126 tracks…:face_with_monocle:

This is all over Undertale. Every tune relates to another in incredible ways. I should make a graph lol

I’d watch that video essay. I’d maybe even read it!

I figured there would be a decent bit of discussion given your profile pic. I loved your 100 songs series!

Every time anyone talks about reading something, I always tell my favorite grandpa joke.

I can’t read in the daytime, I went to night school.
