The show where no one talks over each other AND where we start with mentioning Nintendo!

Hello Georgy, hello Ureshi!

Yes a bit low volume for me too, but fine when I turn the volume up to ā€œare you nutsā€.

Nice transition there from Georgy with the life force!

Hello Roach!

Hello WerqKween! Nice to hear your voice for the first time!

I’m a crier… or more I am tearing up often in games. Sometimes when I just can’t get that boss down too - I did not admit that!

So now I hope since this is going to be a music affine podcast today, we might get a musical podcast sometime too. :microphone::musical_note::notes:

That’s brave to admit to not liking something something Donkey Kong on anything Grouvee.

That got dark for a moment. Oh noooo and then sighs in relief

I often enjoy music a lot in a game, but most of the time in a non conscious way and only when someone points me to it or I run into it on Spotify I realize the music for itself and not as a package with the story and gameplay. It is rare that the music steps forward for me. Paradise Killer might be the first ever game where the music was the game more than everything else for me.

The Final Fantasy (never played one) music is … too bombastic for me. ducks and runs

I have never been in a game music concert, only in one for the Lord of the Rings movies and that was fantastic.

I also feel bad that I don’t know names of games music creators/componists/composers/ artists.

Contracts were sealed!

I wanted to play Undertale back when it came out and then it was such a fuss around it that I just felt overwhelmed and never touched it. Overhype/Noise can make me stay away from games that aren’t my favorite genre / extremely in my wheelhouse.

Incredible music is incredible, so using that word is incredible!

Is it this one? It is free. I am not a huge fan of mobile games but I might give this a try … and cry! I am going to blame the podcast for my tears!

We are all concerend, Toad needs their own bed! Keep singing Georgy!

Just leaving this here for no reason:

We definitely need a musical podcast episode where Georgy sings and everyone else too!

THE GAME and the Quaaack is baaaack!

How dare not to know the year and the shoe size of the composer! :joy: This was amazing how fast all of you reacted quaaacked.

I KNEW TETRIS '89 - I WON!!! 2 points to Nele!!!

sweet Georgy <3

OBJECTION, Roach quaaacked first! I laughed my tea over my new keyboard now. I need to be more cautions when listening to this podcast! (no damage happened)

There it is … the switch to the Switch!

What I wonder, since it is backward compatible, will this mean the first one will be sold used for a good price or will everyone keep theirs? Not saying I would buy one, but I am still tempted for the Rabids XCOM games.

I feel with everyone waiting for Silksong, but … … it’s also a bit funny.

Yeah, 24 players made me question where this is going. Maybe I am a cynic, but I would not trust Nintendo to not go Fortnite, hoping the Switch 2 eases the fans getting into the predatory games. I hope of course I am wrong.

Roach you can do it! Stay strong!

It is for the keyboard to be plugged in of course, since it will have a mouse it also needs a keyboard and then it will allow Steam on it. :smiling_imp:

The ones that are full gone need to be stopped hard. On Grouvee we also see people who use that language but where I feel there is someone reachable behind the words they wrote I try.

I can’t always try because I need to protect myself on a bad day and need to stay away.

People, especially young people, get hammerd by social media algorithms with this shit and lies getting repeated again and again hurt us all, that’s why advertising works. There is a balance I try to keep of saying ā€œstopā€ AND reaching out a hand and offering my thoughts. If we stop talking the really bad people also win and can influence without interruption of us on other platforms and if someone stays here they at least get into contact with a different and hopefully better and more diverse bubble.

I understand that reading the same bad things again and again makes us angry, but this person writing a review is a single person and does not stand for all of them. Sometimes anger gets me, but I feel it is better to look at them as an individual and reach out, we are humans and Grouvee is a place for humans and led by humans. Doing the best on a day to day basis and hoping to reach some and protect the place overall is all we can do

Current events make this harder and harder though. It is a scary time, no doubt. Please everyone stay safe and keep your spirit up - you are not alone!

I like the challenge, but I do not play enough games for many challenges, it still encourages me to look more out for certain things, like diversity or this podcast makes me look out more for video game musicians/composers and music.

I also made a ā€œDiversityā€ shelf right now and will fill in games as I find them. This means over time games get tagged on Grouvee with it on their page. Or is their a better ā€œtagā€ that we collectively could use?

Love you all <3! Thank you for the great time again!

BYEEEEE!

I have definitely cried out of frustration or from being so disappointed in my skill level (usually in competitive games).

That got dark for a moment. Oh noooo and then sighs in relief

I am curious what moment this is referring to as I haven’t listened to the recording yet and don’t remember this lmao.

The Final Fantasy (never played one) music is … too bombastic for me.I have never been in a game music concert, only in one for the Lord of the Rings movies and that was fantastic.

Sometimes music can be really forgettable but it plays such a big part for me to feel things. Whether it’s something emotional or just chill vibes. I think this is why it’s easier for me to notice it. Though sometimes an epic song will play in the middle of an intense battle and I can’t really ā€œhearā€ it because I’m focusing too hard to survive. I’m listening through the FFVII Rebirth soundtrack right now and there’s been a lot of ā€œwow that’s a banger song. I don’t remember hearing that.ā€ Well it was because I couldn’t hear it over the cling clangs haha. Also I want to see a LOTR movie concert so bad. SO BAD. Bucket list worthy bad. Howard Shore is one of my favorite composers just for those movies. Also calling FF music bombastic is so accurate lmaoo.

I also feel bad that I don’t know names of games music creators/componists/composers/ artists.

I only know a couple offhand. I had to Google most of my list… I didn’t get a chance to mention the rest on my list so my other favorites are Kenneth C M Young (Astro Bot), Jerry Martin (the Sims), and Tsukasa Tawada (PokĆ©mon Colosseum).

OBJECTION, Roach quaaacked first! I laughed my tea over my new keyboard now. I need to be more cautions when listening to this podcast! (no damage happened)

Oh noooo. The tea sacrifice has been made.

Thank you for being so supportive and leaving us these fantastic episode notes. I look forward to them every week.

I stand by it, after all the hype and discourse and everything, everyone should play Undertale.

And yes, that’s Bird Alone. Enjoy!

i mentioned briefly the adaptive score of A Short Hike, and while I think my description is basically correct, I thought I’d present Scruffy’s video and interview with Mark Sparling where they go into greater detail about how the music in A Short Hike works. Rewatching it now and I still find it interesting!

And yet you didnt post the Part Time UFO songs… lol

Speaking of going to great lengths to make sound for a game, one of the sound designers at Cyan when making Myst or Riven - I can’t recall which - made some bubbling water sounds by getting a straw and blowing through it into water in a toilet bowl. :grimacing:

PS: If you wanna do a comic episode, hit me up :star_struck:

I think it was when Georgey’s words were seen by Ureshi as if a famous person had died and than he had to assure everyone that in fact that person was alive.

Totally worth the sacrifice if I get such a great podcast every week to enjoy!

Happy that you like my notes, it’s fun to write them down in the moment. I usually do stuff while listening to a podcast but I don’t want to do it for this one and ā€œsit with you all at the tableā€ instead.
