Yep I’m normally using an axe when the nest drops. I’ve caught them by quickly switching to the net once but I’m not sure how!
No you buy singles off eBay
Assuming you’re okay with it, you can also buy blank NFC tags and flash them with the Amiibo cards you want so long as the files are online. People do it with regular Amiibos quite a bit.
As for the random villagers, it’s a curse and a blessing. I have villagers I specifically want (all octopi, Anchovy, and Cube) but random villagers also have you interact with one’s you never would have otherwise and finding new favorites. You can chase villagers away, but I wouldn’t recommend starting that until you’re maxed out on villagers anyways.
Yeah I only have 3 cards I’m waiting to use, Agnes, Stitches and Rosie. The rest can be random. I got through loads in New Leaf and it was nice they popped up in town occasionally so you could remember them. I also had most of their portraits.
Only one I’m considering getting extra now is Nana.
I want Lily, Fauna and Filbert. I don’t think Filbert is featured on a card but I could be wrong. Maybe I’ll just try to get them at random. I have lots of time to play and see what happens.
It’s worth noting that even if your town was full in New Leaf you could kick a resident out in favour of an Amiibo. Dunno if it’ll be the same in NH but it could be.
I’ll keep that in mind.
I had Epona from a BotW Amiibo right to the end in my NL town. I only scanned her to get rid of Rocket
Does anyone know if, when playing co-op, the tasks the person in the following position completes get counted toward the leader’s nook miles totals, to their own totals or to neither?
What did you get from Epona when you did that?
I can’t remember exactly. I think it was either BotW Link top or Epona top.
Oh neat I didn’t know you could actually get things from non AC Amiibo. I look forward to trying that out.
Amusingly the only Zelda item I never got in New Leaf was the Korok mask. I got everything else and made a museum room to keep it all in. Day 3 of New Horizons … and the Korok mask recipe washed up on the beach!
edit: status from 1.5 years ago when I finally got the mannequin to put the Sheik outfit onto.
The museum was exactly the right hook to get my partner fully into AC New Horizons. Both of us are obsessed with filling it, and then going on a museum date together. I love this game.
Anyone still having trouble catching those darn spiders… here you go

That’s amazing. I’ve never seen more than one at a time so far but it’s an interesting glitch.
I’ve also noticed that wasps won’t attack you while your tool ring is open. I opened it and they swarmed around me but didn’t sting. Unfortunately once I got my net I wasn’t fast enough to swing it at them.
Important things I have discovered:

I met Celeste last night. She gave me the recipe for the Star Wand which you have to craft by wishing on shooting stars. I have it on good authority from some random person on the internet that the Star Wand lets you have 8 preset outfits you can change to instantly without having to return to a wardrobe.
I met Wisp. He explodes and you have to catch all his bits with a net. When you do, he gives you gifts. Worth doing as I got something very expensive that I immediately sold
That’s all for now.
So one note on Wisp: the expensive item is a bit of a crapshoot. The first time he gave me something expensive but the second was worth roughly 1000 bell. He does tell you that he isn’t great at knowing values because he’s just a ding ding goofy ghost, but I still want what he promised me!
I have been to Harv’s Island. It is “Photopia”. I didn’t explore too much. The photo stuff ain’t my scene.
