First fishing tourney. Interesting changes here. Wonder if there’s a grand prize for highest points? This is my best effort so far.

My best so far is 10 (not counting the bonus). It’s really dependant on how fast the fish bite. Also the Sea Bass is murder of your speed, given they thrash around as long as they do.

Yeah once you hit higher than 5 it’s largely down to luck. How fast they bite, how long they thrash, and more importantly, how many damn nibbles they take. I swear every one of them was waiting for the full 5 nibbles before biting!

I got it today too!
I hit the 300 mark yesterday or the day before (to get that final set of Nook Miles), but after shooting down several balloons today, I got that recipe. I wonder what the actual requirement is.
I did check to see if it was customizable, and it’s not. That kinda sucks, since you can’t reset the usage count, then, meaning you’re gonna waste gold nuggets to make more. Almost better off using regular ones unless there’s really a benefit, like the reach of the rod or more bells from rocks in past games.

My best is 6. I just took a break for a bit, because I was dozing off, haha.
From what I’ve gathered, there are 13 swag prizes, and then you get the trophies from 100, 200, and 300 points. It’s different from the, “You got the biggest fishy boi today; here’s the gold!”

It depends on when it breaks. A regular slingshot breaks after popping 30 balloons. If a gold one breaks after 60 it’s not worth it. But after 300, then I’m fine with spending the gold nuggets. It helps that gold nuggets aren’t particularly rare.
So far there doesn’t seem to be a benefit to the gold slingshot. I read that in previous games it fired three pebbles. Not so here.

Guys, I haven’t played this game in 3 days. I have no idea if my villagers are ok. Has anyone stolen my cherry blossom picnic basket?

Oh that’s weird. Yeah in previous games it was a scatter shot to make it easier. A bit like the watering can Vs flimsy watering can.
