This compared to Stardew Valley would be like playing Far Cry 3 and then Far Cry Primal.
I find it especially interesting that it seems to have a focus on decision making (not everyone wants to be your friend and you don’t need to befriend everyone) and your character may die (not sure if only of old age or otherwise too) and you keep playing as someone else from your family/town.
I still also have Farming Simulator 19 in my backlog, but I guess it’s not for me or I would need a “specialist” in these games to help me learn what to do, because I feel the learning curve is steep and its not casual but something you need to “work” for. Maybe I am wrong though, it is just that I only know people who have put 1000 hours into these (and talk about "just getting the gist of it) or jumped ship after 3.
Aka is really cute, but I hope they polished it up quite a bit because the demo was very disappointing. It left a lot to be desired in terms of basic things like placement tools, navigation, etc..
Farming simulator can be really intimidating! I gave myself a really generous starting cash amount in my playthrough so that I could buy whatever I wanted and not be limited by money. I think if you start out small, maybe sell off all your plots and leave just one or two. Pick a crop like grain and look up a really simple guide, it can be quite relaxing. If you ever need the steps broken down into a few bullet points to get you sewing and harvesting quickly let me know!
Ah I love farming games! I just don’t know if I’ll have the time to take part! Some good suggestions I haven’t seen before! I’ve seen some Banished gameplay a while back and it looks interesting! I’ve had Dinkum on my wishlist for a long time, it’s co-op if the game-clubs schedule ever aligned. It looks very Animal Crossing-y!
Oh man, a game just came out that looks like it would be great for this. It might even appeal to BMO and his desire to have a nature winning rather than agriculture focused game. It’s called Winter Burrow and you play a mouse trying to survive through the winter. Not so much farming as crafting and gathering but still kinds of fits. Too bad it’s too late to make the poll.
I thought about nominating it. My two were Winter Burrow and Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma, but I told @Roach that I abstained because I’m really behind in the Game Club and didn’t think it fair to nominate and vote if I don’t have time to play, plus didn’t think I should nominate something that wasn’t out by the time the nominations were due. I guess maybe I should have nominated it anyway.
Actually it has farming, gathering and crafting. There’s a whole cultivation and harvesting element that has to do with cultivating fungi.
