This was the first ‘real’ level and I had some trouble keeping the seethe from reaching Yoshiro. I wasn’t quick enough with the wide attacks so some slipped past me. I imagine that gets more difficult over time.

It definitely can. One thing you want to try to do is create choke points so that you slow the Seethe down but also funnel them through your units so that the units can do a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of damage, letting you just clean up any that manage to sneak through. This takes a lot of the burden off of you to try to keep an eye on all the Seethe. You just have to watch for the Seethe who do evade your units. At first this is easy because you can make a choke point right in front of the Seethe gate, and be done with it. Later, you can’t position your until close enough, or for other reasons introduced over time, creating choke points becomes more difficult and requires added strategic placement.

And then, just as you get a handle on that, the game will flip it on its head in a couple different ways.

I have 100%'d Myoko Pass.

On top of the degunking the landscape, you can repair the villages too??? I love this so much. I love making an impact and cleaning up areas. I love how each villager is named and has a story. I love the ema plaques being the lore entries and how you can physically see each ema hung up as you unlock them. The class designs are really cool and I love how everyone is masked except Yoshiro. I initially wished there was dialogue but I’m okay with it being a conversation-less story. Maybe I’m shipping Sou and Yoshiro and want to see them flirt hahaha. I love that you can pet the akita dog and he follows you around. I was slightly disappointed you couldn’t pet the deer but then when I saw Sou acting like he was conversating with them, that made up for it. I am going to take a break instead of diving into the next level since I got to sleep in a bit.

I have something to say about this, but will wait so I don’t spoil anything.

Really impressed with the game! I get similar vibes as the anime Mushi-shi since Gino is often in mountain communities, although the stakes are much higher. The characters and environments are so beautifully ornate, a testament to the benefits of a non-open world design. Yoshiro’s outfit is so complex and not sexualized at all, which is really great to see.

Combat is simple enough right now where I’m not button mashing, but I see that changing quickly as the enemies probably increase in speed and volume. I also really love that the levels you’ve cleared become a part of the world. It really adds to the whole path story, and I’m excited to see what other ways they are committed to the path since even the start game option in the menu is Walk the Path.

I’ve been playing with no issues on the steam deck so far, but want to try it on my PC just to enjoy the art at a higher resolution.

I didn’t know wheree to ask but can anyone help me with this hypothetical I have?

Ok lets say theres a hypothetical demo for a game that you want to play blind, but if you wait for the release theres a risk of your siblings spoiling it, and the demo is out now, also unrelated but lets say your hypothetically autistic and your special interest is games and you want to take a break from said interest for 3 months but not sure if its a good idea or not to improve your discipline

Demos usually don’t spoil anything major. I feel like they usually cover the tutorial area or the first level so even if worse case scenario, someone spoiled that segment for you, you have 95% of the game completely unspoiled.

If you feel you want to take a break, go for it. Do it for as long as whatever makes you feel good. The length of your break is completely up to you.

Phew, beat the first boss. It took me two tries, though, as Yoshiro got killed the first time around.

I was grinding out the bonus objective last night. I nearly howled when I got this score.

Kakeashi Grove

I finished my initial run of Kakeashi Grove. Chasing down the animals is pretty annoying unless I’m forgetting about a sprint button. I like the introduction of the carpenter and the barriers, though they make me think of soccer goals hahaha. The bonus objectives for this area don’t seem too hard so I’m going to try and go for them later after I (assumably) unlock the next role in the boss fight.
After unlocking the base, I was extremely happy to find that I could pet the bunnies and THE PIG. I saw there are now materials laying around and I haven’t found a use for them yet but I’m sure I will soon. Also I accidentally had the married couple working together on a project so that made me happy I managed to put them together. Then it got me thinking I should try and keep certain villagers working on projects together depending on their relationships or rivalries.

Oh, so close!!! I had the grace to not be remotely close so I felt no loss there.

My strategy was to immediately have all my peeps target him and stayed targeted the whole time. After the battle starts, immediately use that special that drops his Resist Gauge and whack away. When minions show up, just try to get them while also whacking him. He’ll do his special move where he goes straight for Yoshiro but he always stops just shy of hurting her so I just keep whacking away, leaving her exposed, and I managed to finish him off in 51 seconds.

It’s probably easier coming back to him later with beefed up peeps but it worked out after several tries.

  • Traditional Japanese’s sweets
This and your video about the candy in the game you posted a while back made me recall something i was researching the other week while researching the history of cooking in different eras/cultures: Amezaiku - Wikipedia

Sweet-smithing performance art is a thing. Now you know and can explore the art of crafting wares in 1001 folded layers of sugary-sweet confection in pure perfection. :candy: (Would this not be a fun game concept premise?)

Cleared the second level, Kakeashi Grove, and the related boss yesterday. Strategy wasn’t crucial yet, but things got a bit more hairy than last time. I can see that going back and clearing bonus objectives will be the key for me to not get frustrated with this game; strong villager roles are a huge boon. I lost a few villagers in the boss fight. Thankfully the boss just aggo’d me, so Yoshiro was never in too much danger. Starting regular levels with the max amount of carryover spirit orbs makes things much quicker, and having the max rations is very helpful for the boss fights.

I love how there is variety with Soh’s starting combos, but it’s all still pretty simple. I can clear out aerial enemies, spread attacks to a wide area, or just focus a ton of damage on one target just with the timing of pressing triangle.

Is there any indication, for levels that are split into areas, whether you have purified everything in your current area? I spent forever thinking I had missed a villager only to realize they were in the second area. I guess I’m so used to the modern age where there is no mystery left in gaming and should have just pushed forward instead.

I’ll probably focus on repairing all the structures in Kakeashi grove and clearing the bonus objectives in that level and both bosses tonight. I think resetting villager upgrades for specific missions will be a big help for accomplishing some of these.

I am 100% behind this game idea. Someone please make it.

I have 100%'d Kakeashi Grove.

The bonus objective for the boss was super easy with all archers. I was really struggling hitting airborne enemies until I figured out I could jump. I totally forgot about that! It made things much easier, especially when I learned the combo to do a spiral upward attack. The little flying minions remind me of Kikyo’s spirit collectors in Inuyasha. I imagine they’re based on the same yokai.

Yuan Cavern

A new type of location, going from a grove to a cavern, immediately piqued my interest. The level design is pretty interesting though I found it very easy to run past defilement, villagers, or lanterns without realizing. Thankfully I backtracked several times during my run and I managed to find everything though it took me three days, the longest I’ve taken to purify an area. I haven’t attempted the bonus objective for not lighting any lanterns but I got the other two on my first run. I’ve still yet to fight the boss so I wonder if I’ll unlock another role or if there’ll be a different type of reward.
At some point, I unlocked a sweet and placed it on the plate at the base tent, thought “oh that’s cute”, then I saw Yoshiro go to eat it and even though nothing really happens, it’s the best thing ever, hahaha. The animations of her digging into it isn’t that great but it’s still cute. I also somehow missed you can look at the enemy models via the ema plaques so that was a nice surprise too.

To a degree I think the devs intend for you to return to levels so if you miss something the first go around it’s usually not a huge detriment. The second attempt at a level is usually easier and if you missed something you can focus on that thing alone instead of being spread thin trying to do everything as you will the first time you visit a level. That said, time management is definitely a key to success in this game.

Never be afraid to redistribute points freely, between villager types and even Soh. Changing it up can be another big part of the strategy.

I had to turn my Deck off midway through Kakeashi Grove because it was a longer level than I expected. It turns out the game saves your progress in a level.

Yeah, it’s a nice touch and always meant I could put the game down if something urgent had to take me away.

I’ve made it to Okumiyama Passage. I’ve been enjoying my time. I’ve been fully clearing each level before moving on to the next one. Enjoying the sheer variety of pettable animals. This is the perfect game to hyperfocus on or play in 10-15 increments.
