I didnt wanna be part of your club anyway!! lol
No, its usually just im already playing something else, and the theme doesnt fit what i am playing. Or i just dont have time. I think ive played 2 of the 5 or so weve done
Yeah, it’s never gotten to a point where I thought it was a problem. I did notice a dip in discussion for the last game but slow months happen. It was just something I considered if that happened more often than not.
And even if someone doesn’t actively play a game, they can still generate discussion, and that’s where I feel my goals lie. I just want to participate in discussions with my friends and find new games along the way.
My laptop went kaput so I can’t play Cyberpunk any longer. So I got the game and I’m playing it on my Deck. I just finished the first level.
Would people who have played this game already recommend the Japanese voices with subtitles?
Kunitsu-Gami? I played it in Japanese. I don’t recall if there was another option to be honest but I also default to Japanese V.O. For most Japanese games. There isn’t a ton of spoken dialogue, but I think given the setting and content that the original Japanese is ideal.
I tried to do the Japanese audio/English subtitles but it made the game menu Japanese.
Just finished watching the bunraku performance with my friend and it was pretty damn cool. Wasn’t expecting a performance out of this month’s game but what a bonus.
Wait till you find out the whole game is built directly upon performativity
I fucking love this game.
Tutorial and Myoko Pass
The opening cutscene is incredible. The game immediately gets you straight into the action, which after watching the bunraku performance helped it feel like a continuation of the prologue. The combat is fun though my weakness has always been memorizing and utilizing combos so hopefully I won’t fall into the trap of button mashing and my skills improve over time.
The design and aesthetic is well-thought. I love that the pause menu is a fan, the save point is a goshuin/stamp book, the level select is an overview of the mountain. This game is drenched in the small details.
Also it is sooooo satisfying to degunk in games. I love seeing the transformation of a healed landscape. What a banger of an hour.
There’s some pretty great flexibility in combat styles and you’ll gain new abilities that you can switch in and out. And since half the battle is won by your allies, you will also have lots of flexibility there. I would say that there were whole points of the game where I dropped combos in favour of spending points in ally units, and I was still very much able to get by on basic attacks.
So, I love the scenery/setting of the prologue, especially the scene with the dancers when you reach the peak. One thing I am confused by, however, is the combat. I don’t recall setting a difficulty (maybe I did and just forgot) but I didn’t seem to take any damage or, if I did, it was less than I expected. Even against the giant seethe doggie that serves as the prologue boss. I don’t usually play these types of games and I doubt I’m very good. So, I guess I’m not sure if things get more difficult? Did I set some kind of story difficulty? Have others had a different experience?
I didn’t notice any health during the tutorial battle and health/healing is introduced at the first level which is Myoko Pass. I didn’t notice any difficulty settings in the menu but I wasn’t looking too hard either. Since this is the very beginning, I imagine these are very weak Seethe we’re fighting and the difficulty ramps up with time.
No difficulty settings I believe, although NG+ adds additional difficulty.
I do think you won’t start to feel challenged until you’re a few locations into the game.
Not to mention the added challenge that comes with dealing with larger numbers of Seethe, not just their individual strength. There is strength in numbers
Whoops, I forgot Discuss doesn’t like HTML tags, just markdown. Meant for that to be hidden.
It’s hardly a spoiler so no biggy. I didn’t consider that at all now and I am very curious how intense it gets.
There’s that and another factor that will be a variable in difficulty outside of individual enemy strength. It’s probably something you are already anticipating.
Just finished Myoko Pass. Very interesting and unique level design. Although I can definitely see one way this game could get more difficult as it progresses.
I wonder which way that is but I think I can guess, lol.
