Koe? (I wont join whatever wins during the run time but I’ll add it to my prioritised backlog  )

I kickstarted this game over 10 years ago, it’s a Japanese language-learning RPG. As happens, I don’t really need it any more, but please to see it release

When I search for Azumatei Kwaidan the game Kwaidan ~Azuma manor story comes up. Are these the same game or am I just getting dodgy search engine results?

They are the same game (as far as my 30 second search result went) so I went with the more condensed name since it came up immediately when I searched for Azuma manor story.

There are painfully too many games on this list that I want to play, which makes sense considering my interest in Japan and games.

It makes me happy to see every game get a vote.

The poll has closed and we have our winner!

Kunitsu-gami: Path of the Goddess

This is an action-strategy game developed and published by Capcom (which I found surprising), specifically Capcom Development Division 1, the studio behind Resident Evil and Devil May Cry, and powered by their RE Engine. It released on July 19, 2024. Before the game’s release, a prequel bunraku performance was released on Youtube called Ceremony of the Deity: The Maiden’s Destiny. It was nominated for Best Sim/Strategy at the Game Awards 2024.

I summon @BMO to find any coupons or discounts for us as right now it is going full price on Steam. :sob:

I just came to post that it’s 31% off at Fanatical:

I believe it’s also still on GamePass.

I will add that most of the specific team that worked on the game also made Shinsekai: Into the Depths which is another great game but sadly still hasn’t been ported to PC/PS/Xbox.

Found this! But it’s only this cheap since I’ve been a Choice subscriber for a while

I saw that! Here’s hoping eventually they’ll port it.

I bought the game! I’m gonna watch the bunraku performance with my friend who I’ve coincidentally already been watching bunraku with. Hopefully we’ll watch it tonight so that I can start the game ASAP.

If anyone is curious what @Roach is referring to, it’s this:

In another life, if I had known more about this particular interest at the time, I would have made my academic focus the intersection of video games and performance. I dabbled with it a bit when teaching, but not in my research and writing, and I wish I had because I think it’s a fascinating media intersection.

I have considered making a guideline to only nominate games that the nominator would actually play that month so it wouldn’t devolve into a suggestion fest with little to no discussion. That way even if someone wanted to use the game club to get others to play their favorite games, they would still be held to playing and discussing that game as well.
