Grouvee Game Club

Since I finished Beacon Pines, I’ve started playing through Night in the Woods since I had intended to play it this month anyway. I’m around halfway through now I think. It is very much not a cozy game, lol, but I am enjoying it very much! It’s also fairly relatable, which is maybe less good, but hey I’m not complaining.

I definitely need to play through that one too. I think I dropped out of it because it wasn’t as “cozy” as I had expected after a first look and I wanted something more on the light side back then.

Yes the ending is bitter sweet. I love that they took the time to give many side characters a short look before ending the game, like the lady at the fountain finishing her book, the guy in the cafè upstairs finally having found something he likes to do, junk guy opening an enterntainment business with the travel tubes, the two bullies being part of the treehouse club, sleepy guy being happy for the first time, bug guy being happy because he found an exciting rare bug, the diner lady going on vacation… all get a bit of a farewell in the end.

The narrrator was also sweet. I was as happy about her being happy having found an ending for her book that she could accept as I was about the ending of the story. The moments when she was really upset about the “wrong” endings I was producing were so fun.

What buggers me is: What was in the room that was closed off in the house upstairs? What made these sounds like a computer or a printer?

@Roach I also need to know what the word was that was sent in Morse-Code. I guess (stay or away) because Rolo didn’t want Luka to come to the treehouse?

Do you mean in Luka’s house? I don’t remember any computer sounds. The door makes a sound I think to let you know it’s locked, but I could have also missed a more subtle sound since I played much of the game without headphones.

Yes that is the door. I am not sure if I remember it correctly, but I think there was something behind it that made a sound that I think could have been a computer. And Luka never opened it only said his gran said: “Some things need to be kept safe from little boy’s hands.” or something alike.

Now I will never know.

The Morse code word was danger. I was disappointed hahaha.

I thought the closet upstairs just held his father’s things in it. They made a comment about her moving it to storage at the end though so i don’t know. That’s my only guess.

Do we want to start voting for another game? Do we want to take advantage of the extra time and just chill until we get closer to November 15th? I’m down for whatever.

That would not have helped.

Could have been the fathers computer and maybe what the mother used to find out more about the source. I totally missed that. I check this mystery as solved then. Thank you!

So, do we have already planned what the theme will be for November?

Nope. I am open to suggestions though. I was struggling to come up with ideas. I thought up a couple though.

  • Award Winners
  • Highest/Lowest Rated on [insert topic]
  • Multiplayer
  • 2024 Release
  • Fantasy
  • Cooking/Food

Cooking/Food/Drinks seems to be an interesting theme. Lots of very different games to choose from…

Sounds like we’ve found our new theme then. :))

If y’all want to start suggesting games that feature cooking, food, or drinks, we could get maybe get a poll finalized and start gaming by the weekend.

Let’s limit game suggestions to one per person. I think that amount has been working out well. When the poll is up, everyone will be allotted two votes.

Venba

I have one other idea but I’m struggling to remember the name.

Y’all should link up and play Overcooked together online!

@Strawhat
I only watched others play this, but it should be named “Over(ly)stressed” instead, if I judge by the yelling. Would definitely give me a heart attack, but I would watch you play and cheer you on! Is it playable in single player too?

Ideas coming from my backlog (I am fine with only one of them being in the voting, it’s just the ones I found):

Dave the Diver

Diving and preparing sushi and a lot more. I guess everyone knows this one at least from the hype it got. I still have only scratched the surface of this game and wouldn’t mind to start over since it is a while that I played it.

Battle Chef Brigade

Match 3 and brawling … It looks weird and will probably have me fight with a controller, but I LOVE Match 3 and cooking in games so maybe that gets me over the brawling and the controller? Could not find out if this has an easy mode for the fighting part.
Seems also to have good ratings overall.

Automachef

Building automated kitchens, has its own programming language apparently. I am up to try and feed the masses. Some say it is more a puzzle game that makes you think on saving energy and reusing devices than an automation game. We could compare our solutions or the mess we created instead

Epic Chef

This seems to have it all: Story, farming, cooking, managing … maybe tries a bit much and it seems the people buying did expect less story and more action, but I am fine with reading and connecting with people first - cooking and watering the crops later.

Let’s be a chef!

@BMO
I heard great things about Venba, so I could see me buying it, there seems no current sale price though.

Outside of the Game Club a free one from itch.io that made me laugh: Life in the Pasta Lane by IfThenCreate Fettuchineeeee!

Pizza Tower? I guess thats not really a cooking game.

Ha, Battle Chef Brigade was the second game I was thinking of.

True, but it only $16 CAD, or roughly €10.

Do farming sims count? There’s lots of food in those. I wanted to suggest the original Harvest Moon but if it doesn’t, I can choose something else.

I’ve heard good things about both Dave the Diver and Venba but also don’t really know too much about them either. These two interest me the most out of all the ones suggested. I’m also in the middle of an Overcooked 2 run with friends and it is very stressful and chaotic hahaha.
