What should I play next?

Update: new tie breaker poll below. Choose between FFXII and Uncharted 4.

I’m definitely jumping on the poll bandwagon. What better way to decide what to play than to leave it up to others?

I maintain a list on Grouvee called The next ten, a short list of games from which I try to select my next game to play. Lately I find myself straying from the list, so I thought I’d put some of the titles to a vote.

  • Song of the Deep
  • The Talos Principle
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
  • Abzû
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  • Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • The Witness
  • Star Fox Zero
  • Fallout 4
  • Bonus: Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood (convince me that I should jump back in)

You might note that I didn’t include two titles from my next ten list, Little Nightmares and Yomawari: Night Alone. The reason for this is because I’m saving Little Nightmares to play with my partner, and Yomowari is a handheld title and I am currently playing Salt and Sanctuary on Vita so I want to keep this poll limited to non-handheld titles.

You can vote for up to two titles, so let me know which game or games you think I should dive into next. And as usual, feel free to let me know why you chose what you did in the comments.

Thanks

I’ve seen many of these mentioned on the site and curious which of them will score votes. Great poll. i havent played any of them so wont vote. ill just mention that in glancing at your wishlist for stuff i’ve rated, stardew valley was pretty good

I voted FFXII and The Witness. The Witness is absolutely fantastic if you like puzzle games. My wife and I played it together and had a blast. It’s great to play with someone else.

This is getting interesting. I thought there was a clear winner for a bit but that seems to have changed.

One thing is clear, you probably shouldn’t jump back into Final Fantasy XIV

@peter, apparently not. I’m not surprised. I bought the expansion but I haven’t played at all. It’s not because it doesn’t interest me, it’s because I know how time consuming it is and it’s hard to find that time.

And now I’ve finished Salt and Sanctuary. I might have to post a poll for recommendations on my next handheld game

I just started Fallout 4, its pretty good. Thats my vote.

Tie breaker time. Since there is a tie between FFXII and Uncharted 4, I’ve created a new poll to determine which of the two is the next game I’ll play. Whether or not you voted before, let me know which of the two you advocate for below.

  • Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

It looks like Uncharted 4 is my next main title to play. Thanks everyone!

Time for another poll. Help me decide what my next game should be. Fresh off of Hellblade, I am not sure what I want to play next. You can chose as many as you like, and we’ll see what receives the most votes:

  • Nier Automata
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Fallout 4
  • Gravity Rush 2
  • The Witness
  • Stardew Valley

I voted for NieR: Automata. Haven’t played it yet but I heard it’s pretty good. It’s about 20 hours of main story.

Fallout 4 is a good selection but it’s quite a time fiesta.
You can always put Stardew Valley as a time killer if you do not decide to go for it at the moment.

The Witness was one of my favorites in 2016. My wife and I played it together and had a blast. If you’re into puzzle games, it’s amazing. I think Nier and Final Fantasy are good second choices, but I’m voting for Witness alone.

Does that include replays? Apparently it requires you to play it twice to unlock a entire portion of the rest of the game.

I had a feeling you would.

I actually don’t have that much information about it but as far as I’ve seen online:

Route A is around 7-10 hours
Route B is around 4-6 hours
Route C is around 6-8 hours
Route D is just a variation/choice near the end of C so it would be around 15-30 minutes long
Route E is the same

Those are WITHOUT side quests tho (That’s what someone mentioned). So depending on your gameplay, how much you die, how much you soak, it can take even more than 20 hours.

i’ve played three of these games since your last poll, lol

F4 is okay. it’s definitely worth playing if you like those games. beware the scope of that game. i think its only bethesda game i found myself really getting burnt out on. it’s a good one to dedicate to on a certain day of the week (like world of warcraft style) and shuffle around with other things rather than marathon.

Stardew valley is Very good. i’d argue it is a a mustplay if you like harvest moon series or style. It can be played in short play sessions so its good candidate for ‘pick up and play’ shelf. it has a good 16 bit aesthetic

witness is interesting. while i didnt particular have the best time with it, it is without a doubt a VERY good game, and top of it’s class. It’s somewhere between stardew and fallout 4 in play time sessions lol.

I went with Nier (as evidenced by my recent status posts on the main site). So now the question is FFXV or jump into the Yakuza series.

I’ll play both eventually, just trying to decide which is next. I was debating whether or not I want to play another game full of sword fighting after playing Nier Automata.
