Yeah I understand that and I do think if I was a kid I would go nuts for it but the thing is Nintendo already had that demographic by the balls to begin with. All the switch needs is that new Pokemon game to come out and the Switch will fly off shelves. Kids already love Nintendo and the ones that don’t are into PS4 and XBox because of the mature games on there. Kids want to be adults, thats why you see them playing games like CoD and GTA. Nintendo needs to focus on THAT market by either making more partnerships or making new games of their own to cater to that demographic. Again if Labo sells well, that would be amazing it is just that I am nervous at what 2018 looks like for the Switch. Including Labo, there are only 6 new games exclusive to the Switch in 2018, the others being Mario Tennis, Kirby Star Allies, Octopath Traveler, Yoshi(which we have no release date for) and No More Heroes 3(which we haven’t even had a trailer for). Unless there is a direct come spring or a really good E3 on the horizon, I’d stick with my PS4 this year.
90% of what they’ve released so far indicates they’re focusing on an older market, and by older, I don’t mean “more blood and guts”, I mean games with enough complexity, entertainment, and demand of skill that people of a huge age range can enjoy- like Mario or Zelda of course. I don’t think a Nintendo console will ever be a “COD and GTA” machine.
They said it was a direct mini so I don’t have any concern yet about what the rest of the year will be like. The switch is selling like hotcakes so even if there’s a temporary lull in games, it won’t last.
On the horizon is at least pikmin, pokemon, metroid prime 4, shin megami tensei V, fire emblem, smash bros, animal crossing, bayonetta 3, yoshi, and whatever else I’m forgetting. Plus, I’m sure there are plenty of unnanounced games they’re working on.
Again I hope you’re right. Nintendo is doing so well that I don’t want to see them fall again. Also GTA V on Switch is honestly something I would be interested in. I just really want ports. Even WiiU ones would go a long way. I mean Smash is amazing, it boggles my mind why they haven’t ported it over yet.
I’d rather buy a Switch for all the games Nintendo is already making, and for Sony to see the success of the Switch and finally created a Vita 2, of some other handheld that is backward compatible with the Vita, so I can have me a new portable Sony for all the types of games that don’t usually end up on a Nintendo system (and some that might). But that’s a crazy pipe dream.
A Vita 2 would be awesome, but I’ll eat a hat if they ever make one
It would have to be a $300 - $350 system to make it what you want, and I just don’t see people paying that for a dedicated Sony handheld.
That is a genius idea but I doubt Sony would do it.
I would my friend, I would.
Edit: but that’s because I’m crazy. I’m a hair away from importing a second Vita as it is.
Sony claims they have no interest and that the Switch isn’t popular just because it’s portable, but because it’s so much more than that. If I can find the quote I’ll post it here.
I just want something that will replace the Vita once they start to die. If my Vita ever dies I will weep a thousand tears.
Haha, I would also buy one. I love my Vita. I don’t own 2 Vitas, but I have purchased 2 of them.
Why do you guys love the Vita so much, other than P4Gold
It’s a great system with a lot of fantastic games. And I prefer playing quite a number of crossbuy games on the Vita rather than the PS4. Also I have the original PCH-1000, which has the OLED screen. Games look fabulous on that screen. It’s the best system for a whole suite of handheld games. The Switch is replacing the Vita for a lot of the indie games I enjoy playing on handheld, so I see myself picking one up soon. But there are games that only Sony systems receive and the Switch doesn’t have those. Games like old PSX ports, and games like Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway.
Hmmm can I play Bloodborne on Vita?
Only via remote play, not directly. And it’s probably not as comfortable an experience as playing with a DS4 controller.
How does remote play work? Through internet?
Locally over WiFi or via the Internet. Same way it works for remote play via a Windows or Mac PC. It streams the video of the game to your device, in this case the Vita. Some games are great via remote play. Others can be a pain given the fact that the Vita only has one set of shoulder buttons. I use a case that adds L2 and R2 buttons for games that require all four shoulder buttons.
Well as long those extra shoulder buttons work.
They do. The way the Vita handles additional inputs is via the rear touch pad. What the controller case does is allow the shoulder buttons to hit two of the areas on the rear touch pad. It works quite well.
Hey guys what i miss?
Labo and remeniscing about the playstation vita
Know this coversation is pretty dead now, but if you guys like talking about the Switch then why not join my Discord server? There’s quite a few people on there and we (usually) have good conversations about the state of Nintendo and the Switch
