What are you listening to right now?

Whhoof we have different opinions on the Strokes. I found Reptilia through rock band, loved the song, listwned to that particular album (Room on Fire, if memory serves) really liked it. Went to some of their other albums and couldnt stand any of them lol

Depending on how long ago that was, this one might not have been out. This came out in 2020 I think? I still have yet to listen to anything else of theirs but I’ll give priority to that album since you liked it.

Probably not long before that. It was like 2018/19 when i first found them.

I like the Strokes’ first album, Is This It, and feel the ones after that were a bit of a drop off save for the occasional good song. That said I think The New Abnormal is their best album since their first.

If we are discussing the changing quality of the Strokes, there is classic era Strokes being their first three albums (Is This It, Room on Fire, and First Impressions of Earth) which are fairly beloved. The consensus would put First Impressions at the bottom of those three, but it is my personal favorite. Julian Casablancas gets quite personal and joyously dark which is a trend he continues on his solo record, Phrazes for the Young. Angles was seen as a disappointment as a lot of the band had solo efforts at that point and were seemingly putting out better work separately (although Angles has some strong classic level singles). Comedown Machine and The New Abnormal are seen a bit as a return to form with a consistent quality. All that to say- The Strokes are great and like every band has highs and lows. If you like their new stuff, check out those iconic first three albums. And give First Impressions of Earth a fair shake for me!

Humans can be amazing, why do we choose so often not to be?

This album is great and is clearly inspired by The Cure and that great 80s post-punk synth pop.

Faded State, End Transmission, and Games of Power are my favorite tracks at the moment.

Tyler, the Creator’s Chromakopia has continued his unprecedented run of excellent albums with a joyous, bombastic, funny LP. You can run the whole thing. No skips. But if you’re looking for a taste- St. Chroma, Take Your Mask Off, and Balloon are full of enough energy to run a small town. Killer record.

Sounds great! Thanks for the rec. Yeah I can definitely hear The Cure, and a bit of Joy Division as well. Really cool production

So potential greatest band of all time (in my own mind) Offspring has a new album called SUPERCHARGED. yes its in all caps on the cover. As a huge fan im usually happy to get anything new from favorite bands and this is no exception. Its solid, nothing id say is bad but probably not their best work either. A couple will probably make regular rotation for me. Opening track Looking Out for # 1 might be the best on the album, but its worth a listen.

I give it 3.5 out of 5 Crazy Taxi’s

The line “Got three hoes with me like im santa” gonna live in my head rent free. So stupid but so funny.
