Here’s the commission I’m working on for someone. Probably 12 hours so far.

This is the last one I did that I felt was of a decent quality (apologies for the crap scan). I’ve been concentrating on writing more over the last few years, but I really should get back into drawing.

Protest art for signs is important art! Also freedom-:frog:is best frog!
I also like his other works.

For a long time I underestimated how powerful art is when it comes to activism, maybe because I am unable to draw a stick figure without having to explain what it is. :sob:

I feel in a time where so many act on feelings more than science and facts, art can get peoples attention on exact that level and bring them back.

I’ve seen this elsewhere. Does anyone know what, if any, significance the frog has?

Viral Froggo stood up against facism and was withstanding pepper spray in Portland and now there is a flood of wobbly animals following in its footsteps. Makes it hard for the media to pretend there is a “warzone” in Portland - honestly such a great way to make any video about protests hard to use as propaganda.

What @Nelemania said, and adding that there are more than just the frogs we are seeing, the frog is simply what stood out because of an early video plus a pretty great interview with the first frog after they were pepper sprayed. I haven’t seen as much coverage of it because the frogs have gone viral, but there are also chicken suits, clowns, etc.. Since ICE relies on intimidation, by showing up in absurd costumes their effect is diminished, and ICE doesn’t know how to react or regain the balance of power. Watching ICE pepper spray the vent of a frog suit only serves to highlight that ICE is mostly made up of angry racists with little to no training who get off on exerting power over vulnerable people, because the moment a person in a frog suit shows up they have no clue what to do. It’s kind of bonkers to see because of how absurd it looks but that absurdity is making a mockery of Trump’s gestapo and it’s giving people hope.

It makes me very happy to see my home stand up to fascism. When I was in high school, my goal was to move to Portland so I really like seeing Portlandians fight back and in such absurd fashion hahaha.

That Rinoa plushie is incredibly cute, and it’s rad to see all the FF5 heroines showing up in more official art lately. And holy cow, the UFO claw has the goofy alien from FF8 on it! Super fun piece.

I feel like FF5 gets way more love in Japan (well, obviously because it wasn’t initially released here, but also way after the fact). Like FF5 was the golden child of FFRK and other gacha games, etc. It’s weird to see Krile front and center here, because I can’t think of a less developed, named, playable character in the series than her. Maybe some of the Mystic Quest companions. And Refia gets a big plushie in the front while Rydia and Relm are relegated to little easter eggs in the rear (SEE WHAT I DID THERE)

There are some I don’t know - who is the purple haired woman on the left? Or the black thing in the lower left? Is the white thing in the lower right supposed to be one of those vegetable things from 12?

Oh, and Penelo, Celes, and Maria are missing!

Edit: Ok nm, a bunch are missing

The little guy in the bottom left corner is a Spriggan. They’re in XI and XIV. Not sure if they’re in other FF games.

EDIT: My partner couldn’t let the mystery remain unsolved so he started digging and believes the purple-haired lady is Maria from II.

This is fascinating and a little scary. I’ve taken pictures of my physical art and cropped and multiplied things but no AI was involved ( I actually posted them below). It would suck if my free photo editor app started doing AI garbage to my art. I would have to research a simple non ai photo editor.

I’m completely against AI. How about people create things themselves whether it’s shitty or not? I only learn through making mistakes and refining my process. I would feel like a scammer if I let AI in any degree to mess with my art.

99% of my work is done on paper or canvas with ink, markers, paint, and/or material glued to the surface. This reminds me of a documentary about the late great David Lynch called The Art Life. It’s basically two hours (or 90 min I forget) of him making art, smoking, drinking coffee, and talking about his life. At first I thought it was boring but now I can’t stop thinking about how relaxing it was.
