Museum of Art

While video games may be the form of art many of us are most passionate about, ever since being first introduced to the internet, I’ve been following and browsing artists of all kinds so I wanted to open a thread where we could share official concept art, fan art, or even non-gaming related artists.

Before posting artwork, please consider the following:

  • No AI-generated content.
  • Post the artist’s name and a source link. If the artist/source is unknown, feel free to ask for help tracking them down so you can update your post.
  • Please don’t directly post spoiler images. You are welcome to post a link to the image instead.
  • Artwork must adhere to the ToS.

This, to me, is like the definitive game concept art. Terra by Yoshitaka Amano.

Perfect encapsulation of his style, the game substance, and the character.

I purchased this box set years ago of Amano’s work at a convention for $50 and I’ve still yet to read it because I told myself I wouldn’t until I had played through the FF series (at least the ones covered in the books). I have not completed that goal yet (currently on FFIII) but I’ll get there some day!

I did read a non-FF book of his called Faeries that depicts literature inspired works so if you’re interested in exploring his non-FF work, I’d recommend it.

I gotta cave to nostalgia and throw in some Hiroo Isono stuff from Trials of Mana. Dude was an undisputed treemaster.

I follow Amano on IG but I’ve never bought anything directly. I have the Ultimanias (and some Suikoden books) and have been working through those.

Amano had an exhibit in New York recently but and I really wanted to go but I missed it. :frowning:

YAS I was JUST thinking of this, too. Gorgeous. I stared at those manuals for hours.

Wow. These are mesmerizing. Absolutely incredible. I love trees and the moon so these are perfect. I need to play through that series too.

EDIT: The sprawl of detailed trees reminds me of Kentaro Miura’s work a bit. I couldn’t find an exact panel of his that’s similar but maybe these are comparable.

I’ve finally been able to track down a book on the art of Stanisław Szukalski, an amazing Polish artist and sculptor. Like many he wasn’t appreciated during his life and a whole warehouse of his work was destroyed when the Nazis bombed Poland.

His work is fascinating though. Never seen anything else quite like it. There’s a really great documentary on Netflix called Struggle about him if anyone is interested.

Here’s some examples of his work.

Which book? Was it out of print or something? I’ll add the documentary to my list. :))

Inner Portraits by Szukalski himself. There is also a book called Struggle that was released to coincide with the documentary that’s much easier to find. It’s pretty good, too.

While we’re talking Terra, here’s a cute one I saw of her and Kirby! By Krag.

And here’s a cute witch for good measure, by Sae.

Ooh one more Amano I love just because it feels “rare” lol is of Bartz and Faris. Plus Faris looks cool.

Her leggings remind me of Sailor Moon’s blanket. More artists to follow. <3
