Movies and TV, Anyone?

Totally missed a trick by just re-releasing the original

Its a joke, damn it. Just let me!!

I still need to watch the first Groundhog Day

It was on TV on…Groundhog Day, but we were watching something else so I wasn’t prepared

We sawr Paddington in Peru today ! It was cute. Paddington was in it

– I haven’t seen 1 or 2 in a while; should re-watch them

– It sort of reminded me of Hey Arnold! the Jungle Movie, or the Dora the Explorer movie I saw a few years ago

– His signature weapon is the umbrella–not unlike Everett True, or Princess Peach

– I almost thought the trailer gave away who the surprise villain was, but there may yet be a few twists

– I do remember: in 1, Paddington almost died by fire. In 2, by water. So by Pokemon logic, he should almost die by grass in this one. But does he… ?

– Usually, everyone in the family does something to help him at the end, but doesn’t seem like the case this time. Oh well

– The ending reminded me–I think the villainess from 1 was also offered a job/rehabilitation rather than incarceration, which is inspiring. Even if it might’ve been cool to see a Prison Babe…but, there may be one during the credits

– My mother’s friend adopted a child from Peru [as a baby]. Her friend asked her–what are you going to do when he grows up and doesn’t speak english ?

I watched Ne Zha because the sequel just became the highest grossing animated movie of all time.

I watched it in the English dub until I saw that it was free on YouTube and watched the rest in Chinese audio.

Here’s a line from the dub: “Look at that. You harmed all those innocent civillians just to destroy a couple skeletons.”

This is a line said by Mike Pollock’s character. The fucking irony.

Far from a movie guy, but my girlfriend made me watch Barbarian last night and I really enjoyed it! Usually I fall asleep in most movies (something about them makes me drowsy…I even fell asleep for an hour during Avengers: Endgame), but this one kept me engaged the whole time!

It’s a brilliant movie, that’s why.

(But so is Endgame, so :man_shrugging:)

I saw Here, and its good.

lol i dont remember clicking submit on this opinion. i stand by it though! Zemeckis is a formative director for me (Back to the Future, Roger Rabbit, Forest Gump, Castaway- I even quite like Flight), and I follow his work even when it feels exceedingly phoned in (that recent Pinocchio movie was a pig trough). Here doesn’t function as a complete return to form as it still highlights his hubris concerning tech. Yes, they make old ass Tom Hanks look like an 18 year old, but he still sounds like gravely current aged Tom Hanks. There is also an entirely unbelievable looking (negative) dinosaur sequence that opens the film. Outside of that, the tech works, and the films willingness to be shot from a single angle during its entire hour and forty minute runtime is affecting. i also enjoy that the movie canonizes the events of today alongside those we might learn in history class.

the movie also continues Zemeckis’ opinion that Robyn Wright is too good for Tom Hanks

Finally, a quick word on that tech. Yes, it is AI. It does scrape data in the sense that they took all the footage that exists of young Tom Hanks and young Robyn Wright to recreate what their faces would look like if they were still young today. I guess I don’t have much of an issue with that portion of it because it is their faces and they are consenting to this process. However, there still is the issue of how environmentally harmful AI is. It is tough to say how many resources were used to make this film, but if it is outsized, I for sure condemn that.

Anyway, I do recommend Here, with some caveats.

Watched ZOOKEEPER on the YouTube. It reminded me of DECK THE HALLS–an old family movie I vaguely remember seeing in the theatre back at the time, and recently re-watched on YouTube. And both movies

star a fat guy who is, at least temporarily, a car salesman !

I liked when he took Gorilla to TGIFriday’s ! Of course, now he’s going to want that experience again. Did you ever see the 2012 Ninja Turtles cartoon, where they were friends with restaurateur Mr. Murakami, so he let them come in to eat in secret ? Maybe they could work something like that out with Bernie the Gorilla. But, would that really be fair to the other animals

So this is a romantic comedy, really, about dating a colleague ! Hm. I remembered the part at the end where he was trying to catch up with Kate [who’s about to leave the country] but stops to kick Shane, the Evil Zookeeper. Then takes a cookie from his mother. You’re in a hurry, do that later ! That was nice of the mother to offer him a cookie; I wonder why her son turned out evil. Too bad

I think the message is, that it’s important to love your job. And that animals can talk. But it’s a secret, like in Toy Story

I’m all caught up on season three of Yellowjackets and it’s fun! Our girls are growing madder and madder and I’m here for it. I didn’t love the explanation that the tall eyeless man was a traumatizing commercial several of the girls had seen in childhood (he shows up in one of the hallucinations this week not had by Ty), but that is mostly a frustration i have toward the execution of that ad rather than the idea that something horrifying is a shard of a lost memory. Maybe that solidifies that they are suffering under mass delusions (like the howling they all seem to hear), but i am very much here for the tension that is built from the uncertainty of whether or not there is something supernatural occurring. Where’s Hilary Swank? you can’t announce the swank is in your show and not have her in the first three episodes! i fully expect her to be the grown up version of the girl young Shauna was kissing (genuinely don’t know her name) and also the person who cut adult Shauna’s brakes.

Please stop putting video game character models in your shows. A lot of people play video games and recognize the way they look- their glossy appearance and unnatural movement. Just use a real fox! sure a real fox will not walk around with a dead bunny in its mouth, but it will look real because it is real!

Anyways, new Yellowjackets is fun and I’m excited for the girls to eat poor delicious coach

Watched X a while back and thought it was fun enough. Haven’t seen Pearl but found MaXXXine reaaaaally boring. I also don’t get the obsession with Mia Goth. She’s okay but not some groundbreaking revelation.

started watching Common Side Effects and there is just something healing about hearing Mike Judge do the Hank Hill voice.

Show is pretty fun so far too! I’m into it!

We finally watched BATMAN BEGINS yesterday and the day before ! I picked up the DVD trilogy at half-price a while back, just in case I’d be into it

I do remember seeing bits and pieces of it years ago. Batman was in it, and he…BEGINS ! Sort of takes a while, but waygd

Scarecrow as the first [costumed] Batman villain he fights; interesting choice. I understand he would’ve been in the canceled “Batman Unchained”, the proposed sequel to Batman and Robin, so maybe that’s why. Anyway, we’ve also been watching Batman: the Animated Series, which also had a Scarecrow plot of poisoning the water with Fear Gas !

I always thought I wouldn’t be as into this trilogy because it looked like they were trying to be more serious/realistic. I guess it was ok, though

We watched THE DARK KNIGHT this time ! T’was pretty intense. Even though a guy named The Joker showed up…his jokes didn’t really lighten the mood !

So–save Harvey, or Rachel ! The choice brought the climax of Batman Forever to mind. But it was the Bad Ending ! Poor Rachel–you can’t just k-ll her off; she’s cute ! It would be like Marian dying at the beginning of Double Dragon 2

And then, the two ships at the end mirror the situation. I hadn’t noticed how many superhero movies have a choice of which one of two to save–Superman, Spider-Man, Batman Forever…

Anyway, I think I prefer the cartoon/60s show. The lighter takes on the Dark Knight ! …I wonder what Robin would’ve been like in this trilogy

How about a magic trick? Im gonna make this trilogy irrelevant!

The middle movie blows away the other 2 by a huge margin imo. I cannot stand the third one, i hugely dislike its version of Bane, but i found the first movie okay, with it nearly stepping into psychological thriller/horror moments.

However theyre all better the the latest one with mr. Twilight. When watchin it i was like ah this is alright, but then every time i think about it im like naw…that was not a good movie, other than his semi mad max batmobile

In the Dark Knight trilogy, he becomes Batman because of all the corruption in Gotham [as is my understanding]

In the '60s show, Gordon & co. just seem to immediately call Batman on the Batphone whenever a supervillain shows up. That’s all they’re good for !

Sort of an interesting contrast, you could say
