Two episodes down, seven to go and I’ll be on season two.
Dunno if it’s inappropriate to make post-like comments here, but, in case it’s not, I want to try doing so. If it ends up being inappropriate, then this’ll be my only one:
Can the Universe Be Defied? - My Brief Thoughts on The Wild Robot (2024)
Warning(s) for: spoilers.
By the end of The Wild Robot, the animal inhabitants of the island it’s set on have successfully banded together to defend their home from robotic invaders, implicitly agreeing to not consume one another moving forward. …Is it possible to live in a world where living beings do not need to die for the purpose of sustaining others’ existences, where the concepts of predators and prey no longer have a place in this universe? I like to think that can happen one day.
I took my friend to see the Wild Robot in October and wondered the same thing. Carnivores, of course, have to eat other animals to survive. But it’s clearly also an allegory of, can humans ever live together in peace
Currently, they have to. Though, in the future, who knows if that has to be the case.
As for the allegory, I believe that we can. If that future can be imagined in this title and other ones like Star Trek where the conflict is maintaining a utopia, not finding one, then it is possible to achieve.
Tonight we watched Spider-Man [the movie]. I had seen it once, long, long ago
Sara Ramirez, the voice of Um Jammer Lammy, had a cameo ! And I’m wearing my Lammy shirt, coincidentally enough
The climax brought Batman Forever to mind. I don’t think I’d want to be a superhero…too stressful !
Afterwards, I decided to play Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter as Spider-Man
Resident Evil is to be rebooted yet again. Barbarian was awesome though so hopefully this one will be half decent.
Cregger is directing, but not writing. The writer previously wrote Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead which was pretty atrocious. I guess it depends on how much Cregger can do with bad writing.
Oh, good point. I thought Army of the Dead was pretty average, TBH.
Alright, five down, two to go. I’ll be with you shortly
To be faiiiirrr…Resident evil isnt exactly known for its writing. Lol
Also he wrote John Wick 4, which i havent seen, but most people seem to like those movies right? So hes like 50 50 maybe
Watched Spider-Man 2 this time; which I’d never seen before !
–Finally got to see what Spider-Man delivering pizzas was all about. You know what they say–wise man say forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza
–Another burning building–they’re playing the hits from 1. Why aren’t the parents/firemen/Chief Puddle saving these kids ?!
–Is it standard in weddings for bride to run away and decide to marry someone else on her wedding day ? I wondered if that was entirely fair to John Jameson
–We watched the Pitch Meeting for Spider-Man 2, and I’ll watch the CinemaSins before bed. I like to see if they notice the same things
Need to re-watch 1 and 2 at some point; it’s been a while
I remember: in the first one, he almost dies by fire. In the 2nd, by water. So surely it’s going to be by grass this time
Marmalade is to Paddington as Honey is to Pooh
We watched Spider-Man 3. Spider-Man was in it; he did whatever a spider can
– I liked the final battle, where Spider-Man and Green Goblin Jr. fight Sandman and Venom. That would be like Daniel and Johnny teaming up to save Ali in Karate Kid ! Kind of an unfortunate end, though…I wasn’t sure how things were going to go regarding Peter and Harry
– Mary Jane sure gets kidnapped a lot ! And screams a lot ! Some people have all the fun. I wonder if she Marys Spider-Man ?
– So Spider-Man lives in New York, how come he never meets the Ninja Turtles ? I guess because he swings through the air and they live underground. But J.Jonah Jameson is like Burne Thompson. And Aunt May is like Master Splinter
– Thought it was a pretty cool trilogy
Started season two. One episode down.
they’ve been coming out on Thursday evenings so I’ll probably watch the new one tonight. I’ll message you my very detailed theories (Lumon bad?) once you check it out.
Today I learned that Conclave has a fandom that is constantly making fanart, memes and even a fanzine.
Oh I’m caught up. Watched the second episode of season two right after I sent that message. I’ll watch the next one when it drops.
I long stated that my favorite film was Doubt (now, unclouded by shame, I say Princess Mononoke). I gotta check out Conclave. It seems right up my alley.
Superman Creator’s Estate Sues Warner Bros. Discovery & DC Over James Gunn Film
Imagine the family of the original creators of a worldwide famous character actually getting their fair cut. Shocking!
