I love Lost in Translation! Different strokes I suppose.
I watched The Mummy Returns yesterday; that was neat ! I think I liked it more than the first one
Evie was in it and they were more of a battle couple this time
Which reminds me, I wonder if there will be another Halloween Challenge this year; I liked that
Oh my god, I laughed so damn hard when Ben first spoke. I didn’t expect them to make him as important as he was. I loved it.
It was so cleverly done. And yeah, I was surprised how prominent he was, too. It would be really cool if the sequel had similar sized parts for other Spiders that haven’t had a lot of screen time yet. Superior Spider-Man I think could be really interesting to see interact with the others. Also, just visually I’d to see Spiders-Man.
I have a question for you today.
You start an old movie, and the initial staff begins rolling. Would you skip it?
No, I typically wouldn’t skip. The opening credits is often playing a part in setting the mood for the film. There weren’t as many people working on movies back then, so it’s usually not that long of a wait anyways.
Similarly though, I rarely skip the ending credits. Never skip, if in the movie theater (as it’s a chance to chat with friends and avoid the swarms of people leaving). I think the choice of music a film goes out on is indeed a part of the movie worth experiencing, and it gives you a few minutes to mull over the story and how much you liked or disliked certain aspects of the acting, cinematography, etc. And I usually am at least a little curious about the people behind the movie – sometimes I learn something interesting.
My #1 biggest pet peeve with Netflix and other streaming services is their determination to advertise a new thing for you to watch the instant most credits start to roll. So you wrap up this sad, heartfelt, touching film with a light piano starting to play, and then BOOM from out of nowhere a full-screen picture of Spongebob’s ass or someone from The Office making a silly face, etc. A complete mood-killer, but of course there’s never going to be an option to turn this off. Netflix et al want you to watch the next thing NOW, and the vast majority of people will never care who made the film they just watched. At least I can still select the credits to pull it back up…
I couldn’t agree more.
I find that moment when the movie is over but the credits are rolling and you retake your life while the movie is still sound pretty enjoyable itself.
And, obviously, I hate too that “WATCH THIS NOW” thing. I turned off as much as I can in every platform I use.
Unfortunately, in some cinemas you can’t enjoy the credits either. The last times I have gone, people was already entering for the next movie in that moment. Of course, it is the cinema the one to blame there.
Skip the name of the great foley artist Gary Hecker Wrecker? I don’t think so!!
I still have a soft spot for physical media because most, nearly all streaming services are garbage (ads, shows being dropped, cringe trash shows being pushed to the point where they pop up in every fucking menu, auto play, nothing worth watching).
My wife and I usually watch a fair amount of British tv because its better in our opinions in terms of subject (we like art and gardening shows) and they don’t have the stupid fighting drama of “reality” tv.
I have a decent collection of anime DVDs and blu rays because I don’t know how else to watch Studio Ghibli movies aside from paying for something else (crunchy roll or some service to stream it).
I grew up with cartridge, cd, and dvd games, vhs and dvd movies. I enjoy handling a physical form of media, I enjoy the art and inserts. When I collect and consume media in physical form its like reliving parts of my childhood.
I’d love to have a collection of Blu-Rays (create my own “criterion collection” you could say), but money money… Perhaps one day I’ll start picking up a movie each month or two, ha ha.
I think all (or almost all?) the Ghibli films are available on HBO Max (or, uh, just Max now), but that might just be for the US. I believe they’re on Netflix in other regions. They’ve also been releasing steelbook editions for most of the movies in recent years, for those that want a consistent-looking set of their favorites.
Depends on what’s happening. If there is a cool song, animation, action etc I won’t. If it’s just text on a screen then yeah, probably.

Fixed it for you. ![]()
So I Just watched the Kraven The Hunter trailer. Just…wow. And we thought Sony peaked with Morbius.
So, Flash. It wasn’t too bad, but I’d recommend waiting for it to come on streaming services. I didn’t like Ezra as the Flash in Justice League, and this did nothing to change my mind. I also really didn’t like the costume, I felt it just looked weird with the one in the CW show looking much better.
The biggest problem was the CG; it was just awful. I’m talking Burley Brawl from Matrix Reloaded levels of bad. To make it worse they used full CG for some things that could easily have been practical.
So what’s good about it? Well, it has a lot of heart, and when I got past Ezra’s not great portrayal and just let the story take me it was kinda fun. Not wonderful, mind. There are some legitimate funny moments and some of the references - especially one of an unmade film - are pretty cool. Of course the absolute highlight was Michael Keaton, but I think everyone expected that.
As for Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, I’m going to reserve judgement just in case we get to see more of her in whatever James Gunn is doing. In this she’s a pretty one-note character, but I think Calle might be a decent enough actress to make the character really interesting.
All in all, I’d say Flash is more miss than hit, but it’s the kind of miss that still has a bit of charm to it. I’m sure some people will outright hate it, but I found it silly, lightweight fun that’s good for a rainy afternoon.
Oh, but if you do see it in the cinema don’t bother waiting for the after credits scene. It is totally not worth it!
Last night I watched Planet of the Apes (1968) by first time…
I use to be disappointed with the classics.
Not this time, great film.
George Taylor: Oh my God. I’m back. I’m home. All the time, it was… We finally really did it. [screaming] You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!
I should rewatch it, thank you for the reminder!
Shame Charlton Heston was such a dick.
TL;DR: During the height of the 2000 election season, Heston delivered a rousing speech at the NRA Convention in which he closed by invoking an old Second Amendment battle cry as he raised a vintage 1874 buffalo rifle over his head: “So, as we set out this year to defeat the divisive forces that would take freedom away, I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed, and especially for you, (presidential candidate) Mr. (Al) Gore: 'From my cold, dead hands.’”
The US had seen “only” six mass shootings that year.
As a Simpsons fan I can only think of

Well no shit! Just give the good guys guns like in the movies and boom, problem solved. Isn’t politics so simple?
Idc if it is white people jawn, I’m gunna go see Asteroid City tonight!
Nevermind I went to bed early instead
white people jawn
What does that mean?
