Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit anxious about the future of Grouvee. It seems like there’s less and less activity each day — fewer posts, fewer reviews, and overall a quieter community. I’ve grown really fond of this site over the years. It’s one of the few places where game tracking, personal journaling, and community discussion come together so well.
But I can’t help but wonder: is there a real possibility that Grouvee might shut down someday? The thought honestly worries me. I’d hate to see it go, especially since there’s nothing else out there quite like it.
Is this something that’s been discussed before? Are there any updates or plans to keep the site going strong in the long run? I’d love to hear from other users or the admins if anyone has any insight.
I’m really hoping we can keep this awesome space alive.
I wouldn’t worry too much. The community is pretty active and people are posting on the regular. The site ownership is also working on some upgrades that should increase its usability and appeal. There are also a few projects on the go that should be fun for the community in the long run.
I’ve noticed that activity has been down too, especially on the forums, but I think it’s just a natural flow of life. Personally I’ve a bunch of stuff coming up that means I won’t be able to be on the site as much for a while. I’ve also not really played anything of late that’s inspired me to write a review.
Sites go through henna and flows all the time so I wouldn’t worry. I’m sure things will kick into gear once more in no time.
Nah, it’s fine. I don’t look at the traffic too much, but I can tell you it’s been flat for a long time. It’s just a steadily running site that mostly pays for itself. I’d like to boost up the paying members a little bit to make me feel better about my time on the site, but it’s fine. You might see some more ad types soon because they are making some money at least and it helps. The amount of front page activity definitely seems to go in waves.
I am hoping that when I get the IGDB transition figured out it’s going to help bring in more users and get more people paying for the site. I think the way I’m going to be linking games using the IGDB data is going to pretty cool. You’ll be able to play seven degrees of Kevin Bacon with all the linkage that will be going on.
You’ve been around for 9 years, and hopefully we get to double or triple that time! As long as I’m not losing tons of money on the site, we’ll stick around. Or if someone offers me a bunch of money to take it over, I probably wouldn’t say no
