Grouvee’s Official Animal Crossing: New Horizons Discussion Thread and General Hangout

I played Sardines with some of my cousins the other day in AC and it was a blast! Something simple like that is easy to pull off with no prior set up. If we do an island hop, I’d recommend it!

What is Sardines? I see things online that say hide-and-seek, but is there some variation?

Yea, it’s like opposite hide and go seek. One person hides and the rest seek. when you find the person, you cram in to the space they’re in like a sardine. You play until everyone finds the hider.

Interesting. So is the person who “loses” the one who finds the group last?

Ha, that sounds pretty fun. A nice twist on a classic.

So I’ve done a few small projects around my town, most of which I mentioned previously:

A week or so ago, I made a little food stall/cafe area behind where the shop was, and a playground near where the shops are now. In the past few days, I made that overlook behind my house, the heart pond, a multi-tiered-and-stream waterfall cascading from a little cafe seating area, and a little clifftop “island” of sorts for two villager houses. I moved the two shops.

I kind of like just doing these small projects. I dunno if I’ll ever do some huge island-wide design, or make like, legit neighborhoods. Maybe it’s because AC towns have always been a little chaotic in a way, since you had little control over placement of homes, and I’m just used to that.

I also have flowers eeeeeverywhere. I’ve been digging up mums and selling them like crazy because there are just so many. It’s one of my starter flowers, so they’ve been multiplying since the beginning. Flowers were also place haphazardly, so they’re starting to get a little overwhelming. Having to actually dig them up makes it more time-consuming dealing with them.

As for the trees, like bmo was saying, I planted a lot in the beginning, especially the fruit trees since they’re always a decent money source. I don’t feel comfortable removing a lot of trees (regardless of type), but they sure take up a lot of space.

I really just overthink these things and then I never go ahead and do major design changes, haha.

I’ve given up trying to come up with my own ideas on how to decorate different sections of my island. It was taking a lot of time and I was not always happy with the end result, which I found really demotivating. So these days, I’m sifting through different posts on the internet for inspiration, and it made me excited to play the game again.

I also have a lot of flowers, more than I know what to do with so they’re just all over my island, slowly taking over the place. I planted a lot of trees in an attempt to create a forest where I set up my campsite, and I’m initially against cutting down trees but now I think I have to for maybe extra space and because villagers are apparently getting lost.

No guarantees yet, but It looks like I might experience a large spike in turnip prices this afternoon. If I do, I’ll probably open my gates later in the evening after work. I’ll post the actual price if decent after 12PM EST. If anyone is interested in selling turnips, let me know and I’ll notify you when I plan to open the gate.

The Animal Crossing companion guide that was supposed to come out like a week after the game and kept getting pushed back finally shipped yesterday, so I should be getting that on Sunday.

I enjoy the AC guides. They’re always so cute and colorful.

So my top price this week is 265. Will only drop from now on. If that’s someone’s idea of an ok price to sell at let me know and I’ll open my gate.

My highest price ever was 176. Fortunately I’d bought at 91 so it was a reasonable return but it would be nice occassionally to get these silly prices :frowning:

My chances for a high price seem slim this week (currently 5%) but if I see something decent on the horizon I’ll let you know. So far I’ve topped 300, but not broken through to 400 and above yet.

Golly gosh, I am really liking how nice the design editor is in this game. It’s so easy to use that I’m actually designing crap myself now. I even made some parking lanes for my scooters.

Even though we’ve got 50 slots for holding custom designs, it feels like a lot less hahaha orz Please give us more slots, Nintendo kthnxbye

@lunt I can make you the Gold Armor item if you want ^^

Very nice scooter parking. I agree about the custom design editor, it’s kind of marvellous. I wish I could say the same about the island editor, lol.

Hmmmm …
