The developers managed to maintain the signature atmosphere of the old game by presenting the familiar suspenseful plot and enriching it with a greater number of cutscenes and dialogues. There were also no major changes to already splendid gameplay. But where you can see the difference is the graphic design, which was elevated and adapted to modern standards.
I don’t have any issues with including remasters. If you want me to add all the games that’s been suggested to the poll, we can do that, otherwise let me know 1-2 games you want on the poll for sure if you don’t want me to add all of them.
Here’s the final poll. I limited to three votes this time since we have so much to choose from. If I made a mistake or forgot anything, let me know and I’ll fix it. Remember we’ll be aiming to close the poll sometime on Jan. 14th so make sure to get your votes in soon.

Im shocked to see Ty near the top. I enjoy that game, never actually finished it. Its a fun tho pretty bog standard 3d platformer.
Im actually kinda cheering for live a live even tho id have to buy it, but its a genre i dont touch often, and what ive heard about it seems interesting
I’m curious, was Ty The Tasmanian Tiger a popular PS2 title? I feel like that was completely absent from my radar in the PS2 era. It also makes me realize we should have nominated the Spyro remakes, because they are quite good. Next time.
I dont know, but i was the only person in my friends group that owned it. Nobody else i knew had ever played it. I was genuinely surprised to see the remasters made (though they skipped 3 for some reason?). Id say it was no more or less popular than like…Tak and the power of JuJu or something
The Spyro remakes are fantastic, especially the first one. I think it’s one of the best remakes from that generation. You should totally play them independent of this challenge. The Crash remakes don’t thrill me very much, but I’ve never been a big fan of Crash (outside of the superb 90s advertisements).
Spyro is just such a phenomenal series, one of the highest of heights in early-ish 3D platforming, and what I’d argue that is head and shoulders above almost everything else in that era. And the remakes do it a great justice.
We must have been in the exact same demographic because these were two formative platformers growing up for me. Ty was the only thing I asked for from Santa one year.
I feel like these games are very much too recent to have been a formative part of my childhood, and too old to have retained their impact in a way that they circulate enough to ensure I’m aware of them via community. Today is literally the first time I’ve heard of them
Ooh, and also a spiritual successor challenge. So things like Bomb Rush Cyberfunk as spiritual successor to Jet Set Radio, FF Tactics as successor to Ogre Battle, Dragon Age Origins as successor to Baldur’s Gate, Stardew Valley as successor to Harvest Moon, etc.
