Grouvee Food: Brews

i made a penicillin!

it is another drink that i think gets complicated in the telling, but when you break it down, it is really just lemon juice, whiskey, honey, and ginger. and at least in my household, all of those ingredients are basically always on hand. real good! i like ginger and that is definitely the hero flavor of this drink. and its a different ginger from the ginger beer in a moscow mule. i recommend it!

i have everything to make this at home! Even the lovecraftian dread! Maybe I’ll give it a try.

You have Empress Indigo gin and Canvas gin? I’m skeptical that you have any Canadian gins.

I had some extra lemon curd after making lemon bars and started making a bee’s knees with the lemon and honey replaced with curd. I ended up adding ginger beer which would make this a lemon curd gin mule.

Lemon curd seems ripe for a cocktail… but I may give it a little more experimentation. Still good and I’d recommend giving it a try.

I’m having some homemade peach wine right now because it has been an absolutely insane peach season.

The real challenge is letting it age for a year. Right now it’s pretty hot (fresh wine that burns the throat). Like rocket fuel.

Naw. The holidays are coming. Georgey is sure to post some drinks during that period.

I’m not drinking on account of my head injury, but I was making my partner a drink last night during the Halloween party we were at (Apple Cider Aperol Spritz) and I really suddenly would have loved a Jungle Bird is I was drinking, lol.

I’m doing ok, thank you. I actually talked a bit about it on the Halloween episode of The Grouvee Show.

I did make this spiked apple cider recipe for Halloween. No great photos or anything but I got a lot of praise for a relatively simple drink. You could probably still make it around Thanksgiving.

We also made a mulled apple cider but used brandy.

Got it from this How to Drink video (I don’t normally watch him but I sought out egg nog recipes and I’m happy I got this recipe). I did the Baltimore recipe.
