Minecraft, Avatar: The Last Airbender, TMNT and SpongeBob are all going to have DLC characters appearing in Crossworlds Racing.
Personally, these don’t do anything for me. I’d much rather see other SEGA characters appear, like in Transformed.

I don’t understand the relationship between these characters and Sonic. I didn’t realize that by CrossWorlds they meant IP partnerships. It would make more sense if this was just Sonic focused. We already have more than enough of this in Fortnite.
AFAIK the connection is $$$. Unless there is something in the pipeline that includes all these characters and Sonic, there’s no other connection I’m aware of.
It might help get a few more bucks out of younger gamers’ parents (who, let’s face it, are the target audience) but it seems to have been met with a sizable “meh” from many Sonic fans. That said, at least they are DLC characters and not the main roster.
My understanding is there will be two sets of DLC characters that will release periodically. The free set will be Sega (or Sega-adjacent) characters (so far announced: Hatsune Miku, Persona 5 Joker, Ichiban), while the paid DLC set is for all these other random IPs. The latter seems laser-targeted for All The Kids Out There, which, you know, makes sense. Sponge Bob is my least favorite fictional character in history though so I’ll just never buy the paid DLC (and never play online? lol).

Love it or hate it, this strategy of continually throwing in more and more random popular characters all together is the keystone to Fortnite’s eternal popularity. It’s nothing new, of course—it is absolutely the biggest reason Smash Bros became such a phenomenon. People get hyped for their favorite characters showing up in a game.
Guess it’s also worth mentioning…
Happy 34th birthday, Sonic the Hedgehog series!
And happy 25th birthday to Sonic Adventure 2.

Despite all the characters I enjoy the are in Fortnite, I’ve yet to actually play the game. I’ve absolutely no plans to do so.
I’ll admit, I recently got pulled in once Hatsune Miku arrived… (My favorite fictional character? Ha ha.) But more specifically, just for the “Fortnite Festival” (i.e. Rock Band). I’d been meaning to pick up the new Riffmaster guitar controller for a while anyways, for the actual Rock Band game (and it’s compatible with both that and Fortnite Festival).
I’ve still yet to play regular Fortnite… but I’m just not into that sort of thing.
You’re not missing out on anything.
Well… bugger. The EU SEGA shop has closed. While the banner images suggests it’ll be coming back, the FAQ underneath puts some doubt on that.
Such a huge shame. I spent so much money there. ![]()
The DC x Sonic crossover is also getting the Funko treatment..
Wizards of the Cost has announced Sonic Secret Lair cards.
This feels kind of redundant as SEGA has clearly stated what it considers to be the mainline games.
There are a few errors as well, such as Sonic Team being an actual development team when for much of it’s existence it was just a collective nickname for the people who worked on Sonic games.
Anyone remember Sega World Sydney? It ran from 1997-2000, which was right in my ballpark as A child. I loved that place so much… it’s the first time I ever saw a Dreamcast running Sonic Adventure. An older kid was playing the opening boss fight against Chaos and I could no nothing but watch, but was happy to: it was blowing my mind.
Also Sega World was the first place I ever rode a dark ride and played SegaSonic Cosmo Fighter in the sweet spaceship-themed cabinet. I was such a happy kid that day.
Yep, had the pleasure of going twice. I wrote up a whole thing about it here.
Those are awesome! Are the official or custom made?
Thanks! Official, through Limited Run. Possibly the last thing I order from them for a while, read some iffy things about their leadership in the months since preordering. But the decks look great!
