Server Transfer

Theoretically I’m going to have the new code live tonight. I’ve got the site down for maintenance currently. We might be down for a couple of hours. I really don’t know.

I’ll post here when we’re back!

Pulled the trigger I see. Exciting.

Getting there!

I have to restore SSL and some cron tasks, but otherwise it seems to mostly be running OK?

Time will tell…

Wow, as soon as I type that, I get an email from Digital Ocean saying they screwed up some kind of configuration on their end and all servers created today between a certain time need to be destroyed and restarted. They’ve disabled the site for a little bit. Hopefully I get it back up and running.

Wow and yikes. I hope all is ok.

It’s back up and running again. Luckily it didn’t take that long!

Running, as in live and accessible? Because I still see “server unavailable”. Just a heads up.

It might take a while for DNS to propagate, but it is accessible (although I’m restarting a lot). If you clear your browser’s cache, it might make it show up quicker.

Nothing yet, tried a cache dump and switching browsers. I’ll check it out in the morning. Excited to see if I can pick up on any of the changes.

I bet it was related to SSL. That part wasn’t working at first, but it is now. I bet if you try it again, it’ll work.

Hey Peter, not sure if it’s just me but it seems like the main site has been hacked or something, or invaded by spam bots. Someone has posted all this spam, and whenever I go to grouvee.com I’m diverted to some malware site for wedding dresses or something, can’t actually post or anything it’s fully broken. :frowning:

The username is llawalwend, that seems to be the source of the spam. When I click on any link or button on the site I get diverted to: http://de.longdresses.cc/#. Oh no poor Grouvee… has been hijacked by spambots.

Ugg! Haven’t had one of those in a while. I’ve removed the user, and I’m looking into how they did what they did. I don’t know why people do that kind of stuff. Fortunately it has nothing to do with the server transfer or anything. The person has had an account on Grouvee for a long time, and just decided to hijack the site last night while I was sleeping.

The messages looked like automated spam, so perhaps the person’s account got hacked? Or, I guess if they didn’t have any activity or shelves or anything I suppose it could have been set up intentionally as a spam account. It seems like there has been a lot more activity on Grouvee lately, more new faces showing up. Perhaps once a site like this hits a critical mass it’ll suddenly become a target for hackers and spammers. :frowning:
Good work fixing it though, it all seems fine now. I was worried that perhaps they’d broken something!
