Movies and TV, Anyone?

Just got back from Fantastic Four. While it wasn’t quite up there with Marvel’s best and honestly I did enjoy Superman more, it’s still a really good film.

The cast is great, Galactus is finally represented as he should be, and there are some brilliant references for those in the know.

Rewatched Toy Story for the first time in years though this gaslight edit of the entire movie. Absolutely hilarious what was put in. Tight ass screenplay outside of the edits. It goes through settings and scenarios so effortlessly. Such a well thought out movie. Watch this version if you want something to laugh at. You can find the link to the full movie in one of the comments in this Twitter link.

Saw the Fantastic Four: First Steps today ! The Fantastic Four were in it

– Sue was in it, and she was pregnant ! She must’ve had SEX ! I thought, surely…she shouldn’t be fighting in that condition

– In fact, you don’t see them fighting [with their powers] much until the end. I liked Superman better in this regard

– So, the main antagonist is Galactus. I’d’ve thought he’s too big for the Four to take on physically, unless they built some kind of Anti-Galactus laser or something. In which case, what’s the point of them having superpowers [?]

– Well, I guess you can take him on physically in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

– Ending was a total Pokemon: the First Movie ripoff

One of the Fantastic Four gets turned into stone???

And then a bunch of critters cry, and their tears magically bring him back to life???

I saw Sean Baker’s Prince of Broadway. I’m a big fan of his naturalistic style of filmmaking as it often transports you to real places you might not find yourself. PoB puts you into the world of bootleg hustlers- specifically through the eyes of undocumented immigrants and immigrants in green card marriages. It really drives home how difficult it is to get out of the poverty especially when you have parental responsibilities without losing sight of the joys to be found in community and family. Great flick!

Not stone, exactly, but one of them appears to die and then gets all better thanks to [SPOILER]

I was half-kidding, but I asked myself how often we see this happen at the end of movies. Pokemon was the first one to come to mind

Oh wait, yeah–one of the Four DOES get turned to stone
