Movies and TV, Anyone?

I think he’s still very much in dialogue with ideas from season one and with Nathan For You.

Just reporting in that I have finally overcome my fears and started watching. You were right. It is enjoyable and I will keep watching (currently at episode 5, one of my favorites). So thanks for helping me!

I also remember now that some of TNG is directly celebrating specific episodes of the Original Series, I would definitely miss out on those references without having rewatched them.

What helps is to watch them in English while my former experiences with the series was German dub and I feel the original is more serious.

Again, glad you made me watch this again!

Ha, glad you enjoying it. I’m on episode 13 of the original series.

One thing I’ve noticed is that at least season 1 of TOS is more of an adventure show than I recall, sort of an Indiana Jones set in space. Lone heroes standing up to alien monsters and such. TNG was more about exploring the different cultures in the galaxy and looking at how the cultures interacted, from what I recall. And DS9 was about exploring the politics of this new world.

I’ll let you know what I think a little farther down.

DuckTales!!! I still love that show. I have a bunch of Donald Duck comic books just because of how much I love that show.

Saw the John Wick spinoff movie today on a complete whim. It was great! The ballerina killed like a hundred assassins. And I have a new appreciation for flamethrowers.

You know I was referring a line from the original, right?

I was hung over from b-day drinks. That’s the excuse I’m going with :joy:

I know the scene but the joke went over my head when I read it :pensive:

My boyfriend made me watch Straw by Tyler Perry. Eye-rolling-ly maudlin, but it was ok. Taraji P. Henson and Sherri Shepherd give excellent performances, and Teyana Taylor gives a very convincing most stereotypical cop character ever. It made me sad.
