Anyone else watch Sword Art Online? Years now after starting it, my bf and I just watched season 3. And… what? I thought the first two seasons were genuinely good, but this one just takes the plot armor and builds a whole dang mansion out of it. We haven’t gotten into War of Underworld yet, but I just found the first half of this arc so unsatisfying.

It takes the basis of the episodes from NoSleep, but not scripts. It’s similar to Channel Zero which was based on Creepy Pastas. I didn’t love ChannelZero stuff but I have more faith in Into the Void because Canadian filmmakers tend to be able to stretch a small budget much further than Americans can, with much better SFX because we have such a robust practical effects scene in Canada. I haven’t watched it yet but I’m hoping it’s a good time. I like a good horror anthology show.

Watched Heretic. Basically the story of an old guy who kidnaps two girls to mainsplaining atheism to them instead of doing a three hours video essay on youtube like normal people.

Rewatched Hundreds of Beavers. This might be my favorite holiday movie. Sort of a reach, but it has Santa so I’m counting it. Hands down.

The next day, we watched A Christmas Carol [CGI Jim Carrey version]; I don’t think I’ve ever actually watched that one. It was pretty epic; he was visited by 3 Ghosts of Christmas

Seeing as we are in a festive mood, we finally watched Terrifier 3. Despite continuing to have fun camp and gore elements, the narrative is somehow even worse than the last one. The hard turn to Christian mythology is pretty disappointing, as is the decision to explain Art the clown. Art is fun when he’s simply pure chaos, and the more they try to justify him, the less interesting the series becomes. Although the first film is a terrible film, the completely lack of logic is actually what makes it arguably the most interesting of the three films so far.
