Most Anticipated Games 2016?

From the gameplay footage of No Man’s Sky I don’t feel particularly optimistic. All their “random generation” looks very samey, it’s reminiscent of Spore. I think perhaps the technology is not quite there yet for true random generation, especially when considering lifeforms, animals, plants etc. I hope they pull it off, but I’m sceptical.
The best attempt I’ve seen is Starbound. Their random creature generation is really impressive, though it’s 2D.
Dwarf Fortress and Star Flight did a great job too. I guess it’s hard to translate truly random alien generation into 3D.

Pokken Tournament is going to be sick, although I’m holding out for the NX to get it. I just hope it’ll have dlc Pokemon on top of the ones included. My votes are on Politoed, Arcanine, Feraligatr, and Ludicolo (haha)

i’m hoping speculation on the NX release is horribly wrong. popular rumors say it’ll get revealed at e3 and released by christmas. the only way i understand that is if nintendo really wants to just bury the wii u and act like it didn’t happen. which i think is ridiculous with all the great games still being pushed out on to it and ones that have came out more recently. i have easily had more fun with this console than my xbone (which i imagine isn’t too different than a PS4) and really just want to see nintendo have have more belief in this console and their fans. someone please yell at me for this though because i know my ideal for it is probably financially dumb.

those DLC ideas are good. i especially would like to see to see ludicolo in there, no joke! i’m just too much of a sucker for pokemon and want too many of them playable to pick the one’s that i think should make the cut. i’m pretty blown away that NONE of the “hitmon-” poke’s made it though!

Ideally, I’d like to see games go the way of the DVD, where you only need one box to play whatever you want. But until then, I don’t really care if they replace the Wii U in a few months since I’m sure most Wii U games will either make their way onto the NX, or it’ll be backwards compatible. I understand how some people must feel though, that the console they just bought might soon become obsolete. It just didn’t sell well and the bottom line is that less profits = less new games and a fear of trying out new ideas. I just want to see Nintendo do well again!

My biggest worry re No Mans Sky is I will feel an initial sense of great awe and excitement, but for some reason I’ll just give up playing it after a few weeks due to a sense that it is just a pretty but pointless time sink. Or, to get any satisfaction / sense of reward out of it, you have to put in 1/4 million hours+ (c.f. Eve Online), and there are other more fun ways to invest my time. I hope I’m wrong though and it exceeds expectations.

Persona 5 (I’m so excited for it that I’m about to burst already), Dark Souls III (I hope it will have tons and tons of lore that I can spend months deciphering after finishing the game), Fire Emblem Fates (heard there are gonna be 3 different versions, gonna be so expensive if I can’t decide and end up buying all of them…), XCOM 2 (maybe? I liked Enemy Unknown. Probably gonna wait for a sale though), Firewatch (seems really cool, gonna have to wait for reviews though), Far Cry Primal (still haven’t bought Far Cry 4… so many games, so little time), Day of the Tentacle Remastered (will be a must-buy for a young adventure game fan that has never played that title), We Happy Few (looks great, I love weird games), Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (because I love Adam Jensen. Well, the game’s gonna be pretty great too I think), Dishonored 2, Genei Ibun Roku X FE (Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem combined? I can’t believe something this epic could even be made! I’m gonna go on a full fangirl rampage), Mass Effect Andromeda (probably gonna come in 2017 though), Banner Saga 2, Torment: Tides of Numenera (I’m so afraid that this will fail, cause what can change the nature of the man).

That’s pretty much it I guess. Then there are of course games like Uncharted 4, Bravely Second, FFXV and No Man’s Sky that I’m interested in, but not super hyped for.

Yeah the jury is still out on No Man’s Sky. Man games have attempted this random format and few have succeeded. Like you said, I too am worried that it’ll just be another lame survival minecraft clone; collecting and crafting stuff, exploring “random” worlds that actually look very much the same as each other. Ugly spore/dinosaur creatures with bad AI. No sense of progression or narrative. All the gameplay footage looks very ugly, all these samey fluro-coloured ugly random terrain with dinosaurs. I don’t have high expectations but who knows.

I’m going to have to sell my kidney so I can preorder DS3 lol. I am tempted to get it on PS4, since I don’t have any games for my system, but I’m not impressed by the multiplayer paywall. I think I’ll just get the PC version.
