Missing Review Feature on IGDB Games

I decided to start writing game reviews, and this is one of the best platforms to do this, but I’m slowly noticing that some game database additions are being pulled from IGDB instead of GiantBomb, one example is the Deltarune (2025) entry:

And when you open the page for this game, and also other IGDB games, there is no way to write a review, add notes, and most feature of the regular games are missing, all I can do is rank the game using a numeric score from 0 to 5.

The temporary solution I found was to review the previous database entry, the Deltarune (2018) one, which has all the feature available on it’s page, so I managed to write my review this way, but I also noticed other games which are in the same situation as the Deltarune (2025) one:

  1. Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault
  2. Mortal Shell II
  3. Blighted
  4. Acts of Blood
  5. Compound Fracture

And a couple of other ones, the only pattern I could notice is that those are very recent games, so they are new additions to any video-game database out there, not just Grouvee, though at the same time, there is Resident Evil Requiem, which falls into the same category, but it’s page is working fine, so no missing features, similar to the Deltarune (2018) entry:

Is there any chance those IGDB games receive an update in the future so we can have more features in their pages, like reviews, comments and such, or is this the new way Grouvee will work from now on, meaning the games from IGDB won’t have feature-parity compared to games from GiantBomb?

I’m not sure what is happening with these IGDB games showing up, I don’t mind switching databases, I’m just very confused on what its happening at the moment, or maybe I got it all wrong and I’m just using the reviews feature incorrectly or something?

From what I’ve gathered reading other forum posts, we’ve been in the process of transitioning to the IGDB database (since February 2023?), and that’s why there are all these extra duplicate entries with less functionality. Relevant thread: IGDB Data Switch Discussion

I haven’t read that whole discussion, but according to the webmaster’s last post:

I almost have the IGDB pages finished up where you can do reviews and status updates like you can now. I just have to add the platform data edit box and the date tracking stuff back in. From there, we’ll get into the crazy nonsense of merging data.

Personally I’m most looking forward to the merging being done so we can get rid of all the duplicate entries when we search. But I’m being patient because this website is great, and I haven’t been paying for it, so I can’t complain! I just graduated though, so I’m looking forward to subscribing once I have a job!

Thanks for the info, I had no idea, now everything is clearer on what its actually going on, I’m actually migrating my backlog to Backloggd because I decided to start writing reviews, so I need the reviews feature, but I’ll keep my Grouvee profile updated as my “main backlog”, and use the Backloggd one as a secondary one for backup. All this will probably be solved once I finish duplicating my backlog there, since I got almost a thousand games to register there, and I’m taking my time on this task, so no big deal, no rush.

You can write reviews on IGDB pages now!!!

Let me know if anything is broken.

Amazing! Thanks a lot for the quick response, I just copy-pasted the review I had written in the Deltarune (2018) page, into the Deltarune (2025) IGDB page, and it worked, almost perfectly, the only thing that is still broken is the HTML tags appearing inside the textarea element, as shown in my screenshot:

I even made sure there wasn’t any weird thing in my clipboard by pasting the content inside an empty txt file before copy-pasting inside the new review field, that is now available inside the IGDB game entries.

Doing some more testing, I noticed that the problem here seems to be that my review is too long, it breaks and exposes the HTML tags once it gets very long, like lets say, 100 words, but any more than that makes the textarea field to break as already shown.

Should be fixed now! I got rid of the 100 word thing for that situation.
