Looking for a PSX era Mecha dungeon crawler

Ok, I’m asking this because if I don’t finally figure out what this game is, I’ll lose my mind.

In the 90s I rented a game for PSX. There are some of it’s features:

  • You pilot a mecha
  • It features Anime style headshots/avatars to depict the other characters communicating with your character
  • It’s a first person dungeon crawler
  • I remember the atmosphere being tense, that there were dangerous creatures lurking about. Maybe Xenomorph style creatures, but I could be wrong and might send people off in the wrong direction now that I wrote that, lol.

If I can remember anything else, I’ll post it here. I know it’s not much to go on, but given someone somehow helped be find Total Eclipse after I spent years of trying to remember the name of that game, and even though I only provided a very poor and vague description, I’m hoping someone else can figure out what this mecha dungeon crawler game is. Maybe I can get lucky twice.

Very much sounds like Space Griffon VF-9. Let me know if that’s not it, I have some other thoughts.

Yup that’s it. I don’t know how you figured that out. I’ve literally been trying to figure out what it was for years.

Also I watched a game play video on YouTube a while ago so that’s something. But I just looked for some keywords and then YouTubed the games that popped up

Every time I’ve done that I usually get some other mecha game. Mind you I don’t know if I’ve really ever put it down in words exactly this way before. Anyway, thank you. It’s good to have a title to go with my memory.
