I was wondering if there was a way to remove, hide, or not apply the “date added” categorisation?
I find the random date that I decided to mark a game that I played or added to my backlog an annoying distraction that made me not want to use this site in the first place.

At present there is not. I haven’t seen a lot of immediate demand for it yet, but it can certainly be noted that you’re interested in the feature. The site has a small group of volunteers supporting the site’s creator but all coding is done by latter. He tries to address people’s requests as quickly as he can, however it should be noted that feature changes and roll outs can take time.
