Appreciated, but I have them. Was offering them to you
I know, I just didn’t see that one there I’m good for billiard tables - I’ve no room for more. If I do need them I know where to come
Same here, only so much room to put them out so I went with two billiard and one foosball.
It’s Raymond’s second official day (not including move-in day) and he has already gotten into two separate fights with other villagers. Come on Raymond.
Did you ever get your stego tail?
I’ve wonder the same. I have been looking for one, but have never come across one since @lunt mentioned a need.
Hey there! I’m a bit late to the party but I thought I’d just put my two cents in
My town is called Port Paule (named after my deceased cat Paulchen - Paule is the short version we always called him) and my first two villagers were Flo and Flip and I adore them. My island’s fruits are pears.
Unfortunately, I haven’t played in a while because I started to feel stressed and at the same time bored by the game. I think they overdid it with the amount of crafting recipes especially for events. Who needed ten different ugly egg outfits for Easter? All in all, I don’t like a lot of the changes they made compared to the previous game (which I loved to death and played countless hours). It felt like there’s too much of a grind to progress anywhere. Where I could tune in for like half an hour after work in New Leaf, in New Horizon half an hour feels like nothing at all - when I’m done, I’ve achieved almost nothing. As a working person this game demands far too much time.
Am I the only one with that problem? Anyone that can relate? (Sorry in case somebody already posted something like this, I didn’t read all the previous posts.)
I don’t disagree. I’ve sunk a lot of time in the game and you can definitely lose an hour easily. I do think that the time suck and grind are there if you’re really invested in completing every daily task. I realized not long ago that if I try to do everything I’ll lose my whole day to the game. So I’ve strayed to focus only on the things I really like doing rather than trying to complete every area of the game. I used to chop all the wood on my island and pick all the fruit daily. Now I don’t bother because that usually took at least an hour or more. No I gather those items if I need them, but otherwise I ignore it. And that allows me to enjoy other areas without as significant a time investment.
Second time around and the Bug Off still really sucks:
-
There are cicadas all over my island. I constantly run past them every few seconds. As soon as the Bug Off starts, they’re all gone.
-
The return on time investment is too low. I can make more bells off one fish than I can ten bugs. I know it’s not about the bells, but you make bells nonetheless, so it’s a factor.
-
Not enough spiderwebs. More spiderwebs!
-
Balloon spawn rate increases. I swear there are more balloons on my island than bugs
-
You spend half the time showing your bugs off which cuts into the actual time you have to catch bugs. They created a mechanic by which bugs automatically teleport to a bug box, they can’t temporarily remove the animation showing off the bug? I know it also applies to the Fishing Tourney but it bugs me more in this instance because of the terrible spawn rate.
I have not. It’s quite depressing. Of all the things to be rare I never thought it would be that!
I’m still got my eye out for it. Nothing yet but if I get it I’ll send it along.
Edit: my brother might have one. He’s going to check when he gets home. I’ll let you know.
I asked because I did happen on one recently! I can open my island up for you if you want!
I got one from BMO’s brother but thanks for the offer! Here I am handing it in in my best frock
Summer Update wave 2:
Excited for dreaming because it looks like we can showcase our islands while offline.
And without fear of destruction
I haven’t had any real problems with that so far. Have you?
I definitely prefer the Bug Off.
I don’t fish in this game nearly as much as I did in previous games, but I also don’t really spend the time on the game like I did the first month or so. (Now it’s kind of just a dig up fossils to sell, get my scallop for Pascal, talk to any villagers I see, check out tailor shop, done. I’m invested in other games and books right now.) I just really hate the addition of bait, and I hate how tedious it is to craft, so I think that’s soured fishing as a whole for me. I just try to get all of the fish that are going to disappear soon.
I didn’t feel like there was a lower spawn rate for me. I did notice that I’d see a bug right before starting the round and it would be gone once the timer started, but I can catch way more bugs in 3 minutes than I can fish, and I’m just in it to get all of the rewards and quit.
I will agree that it seemed like balloons were spawning like crazy, though.

My partner feels the same way as you do about Bug Off vs Fishing. The reason I like the Fishing Tourney is specifically because I can use bait, so I am a fan of the addition.
On average I caught 8 bugs per round. On average I caught 9-10 fish per round. But The latter was more consistent. With the Bug Off there were rounds where I could only find two or three bugs in three minutes. Others I found twelve. Usually I found 7-8. With fishing and bait I constantly pulled up 9 or 10, and the odd 11. So largely they are pretty close to each other in result, but anecdotally I think that, with bait, the fish spawn rate is a tad better. Which is slightly unfair, because you can control the spawning of fish and you have no control over the bugs, so perhaps that variable makes it hard to prove that one is better than the other.
That said, we need some bug bait
Ok, weird non sequitur, why does no one make model versions of the sea critters, and why can I not sell them to someone for 1.5x the base value like I can with bugs and fish? I really want a model octopus!
Speculation is that a luck system has been introduced to ACNH. Maybe not quite the added feature I wanted.
