Not included in this are a few games I started but didn’t get far enough in to warrant inclusion, such as Blacksad, which I fully intend to finish this coming year. But yeah I’d say my biggest outright hated game this year was Rise of the Tomb Raider, my biggest disappointment was Knights & Bikes, my biggest surprise enjoyments were Battletoads, Murdered Soul Suspect and Resident Evil 2, and the best games were a tie between Lost in Random and Psychonauts 2 and if I had to pick one, it’d probably go to Psychonauts 2.
There was so much good stuff played this year though. This was one of the best years for me in gaming that I can remember in recent times. I’ll probably make a top 5 best games of the year post on the site proper somewhere at some point, but I wanted to partake in this!
I let off the gas hard due to personal issues, life milestones, a new D&D group, a broken laptop, and being afraid for a while to start Pokemon Stadium when I knew it was absolutely the next thing I needed to play. My goal for 2023 is to finish 13 RPGs at the very least!
I’ll start with one completion on 12/31/2021 just because it wasn’t included in my roundup last year.
Horizon Chase Turbo - My absolute gem find throughout this whole process. My favorite ‘post-arcade-era-arcade-style-game’ ever, a wonder Epic has given it away twice.

It’s been a great year y’all. I appreciate anyone who reads my infinite procession of 2/5 reviews of games you weren’t going to play anyway. Thanks for being you and I hope you’ve had the people around you need for the holidays.
I am only going to include games I wrote reviews for, but this is still going to be a daunting task! I was originally going to only include 3+ star games, which would expedite this a lot, since I pictured that being the only games I finished. But then I remembered just how many mediocre platformers and action-adventures I played to the end and still gave a 2 star ha. I was committed to my backlog almost nonstop this entire year! Only the start of streaming slowed me down a bit, but even then, OSRS, game design, and other hobbies took a backseat this year to gaming+Grouvee! I ain’t mad at it!
Sorry… that’s really long. Next year I will only do 3+ stars :X I had already committed too far before I realized how lengthy this would be… I must’ve been bonkers in February because so many then (well both January and February… cuz I was sneaking gaming at work :X and we were remote for a while). Let me know if you want me to post a separate topic so this doesn’t elongate the shared thread too much. Heart means 4+ stars, Heart + Bold means 5 stars. X means 1 star/disrespect. It’s reverse chronological order of playing them. Platform listed is the one I played it on, usually I intend that to be the one it was first released on tho sometimes that’s not possible. I only list Arcade when I played on a cabinet this year. I just spent several hours on this smh lol, while I hear Michael playing the new God of War in the background. I’d be curious to see his list… He went “oh my” when I muttered “366 reviews this year alone…”. And mind you, these weren’t one sentence reviews…
Ha, I mean, many of these games were 1-3 screen platformers or shoot em ups that took 20 minutes tops. But considering I also played hundreds of hours of OldSchool RuneScape too… and wrote reviews for each of these… and worked 2 jobs… yea, my sleep suffered :-p

Great year. Got through it with lots of Painkillers (lol) Played Cyberpunk 2077 and Hitman and and enjoyed them very much, played a lot of old school retro stuff (scrolling shooters & platformers) and enjoyed a lot of first person adventure/puzzle type games.
