Hi my name is Jehu and this idea came up to my mind, maybe you guys already knew it.
Its more effective to motivvate between us by sharing and watching the games we complete as a group, i upload pics of the games i finish to facebook every year. It would be cool to see other guys on my facebook s news when a friend (YOU) has completed a game, it would be more encouraging i believe.
If you wanna try it feel free to add me. My facebook is yamijehus@gmail.com
As friendly as everyone here seems from what I’ve seen, giving out your email address on public forums is not a good idea.
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I was wondering what the pre-requisites for games getting a badge are? Could be a fun community project if people are able to submit badge designs to help build the list.
@WerqKween is working on badges, you can definitely let them know if you have badge ideas or potentially. even designs.
Taking a little hiatus after a huge influx and some personal life stuff, but I’ll be back to it this summer.
I started the badges, my idea for them was to inspire people to try out some great indie games they may have overlooked. But mostly people just wanted badges for AAA games they had already finished . I don’t play many AAA games, so making badges for them is tough when I don’t have any reference for what would be a good image to represent the game. Also, I can’t draw people, at all, and a lot of times the main character was the obvious choice for some titles. Some of the badges also took me quite a while, because while the image you see is quite small, I made the original very big just in case (better safe than sorry).
I know the obvious choice is to just use official game art or screenshot stuff from the games to make the badges, which would make knocking out a bunch quicker and easier. But the image being custom-made just made it seem more special. But it’s entirely possible no one really cares about that and just wants as many badges as possible and could care less how much time was put into making them.
I’m happy to get back to making them someday, but life has been hectic. If no one minds me returning to making badges, I’ll reassess how I do them and consider possibly just making them from pre-existing assets, if that’s what people want. Either way is fine by me. But again, I’d leave that up to everyone who has been working on the badges as I don’t want to intrude.
Also, this is just how I did badges, I am not speaking for everyone. I know at least a few other people have made badges, I’m not sure how they made theirs. Obviously, @WerqKween has made some, but I don’t recall who the others were (sorry others ) But a big thanks to everyone to contributed to keeping it going!
As for opening it up to the community, that would be a question for @peter and staff. If someone just googles a game and takes something that pops up, that may very well be someone else’s work and the last thing we want to do is to add stolen artwork to the site. It would be difficult to prevent it from happening. That is also part of why I drew everything myself, in the end, no matter what it was ‘fanart’ and no one could complain about it.
Hope I’m not overstepping by answering this! I know I haven’t been around much.
