2026 Gaming New Year's Resolutions

There are a few games i’ve been trying to be done with for years but i end up forgetting about. So i’m making a list. That way i can’t forget and this will definitely be the year when i finally get around to them. :winking_face_with_tongue:

Games i want to finish or uninstall

Dragon Age: Origins - This is the big one. It was released in 2009 and i probably got it a few years later. I’ve lost two runs due to failing hardware. My third attempt actually started before covid, lol. I haven’t played it since 2022. I really wanna get through this so i can play the other Dragon Age games.

Wasteland 2 - I liked this but i haven’t played it since May 2020.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5 - This game is fun but also kinda annoying. Not sure if i wanna finish it but i wanna give it another try. Last played Nov 2024.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands - Last played this half a year ago. I think i mostly just had Borderlands fatigue.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla - I abandoned AC: Oddyssey after around 100 hours and i did the same here. But i did like this better. Maybe getting back to this a year later will get me back into it.

Hogwart’s Legacy - I was 60 hours in and probably close to 80% done. It’s been almost 3 years so not sure about it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - I remember getting really annoyed by the “find 15 legendary rat’s anuses“ upgrade system and being forced to commit mass murder in missions. Like the above two games, i doubt i will actually finish this one. Last played April 2023.

X-Morph Defense - Solid game but i got tired of the shooter part back in Sep 2022.

Persona 4 Golden - I got extremely annoyed by the lack of saves back in October. This is probably the most likely game to be dropped on my list, but i am curious still curious due to the high praise it gets.

Yakuza 0 - Another game that has an annoying save system. The rhythm games are impossible due to the controls so that might make me quit. It’s only been a month though.

Le Havre - I just got distracted by Terraforming Mars, which scratches the same itch. Also dropped this at the end of November.

LOTR: Adventure Card Game - This game has an insanely unfair final battle and i kinda ragequit a month ago. The actual game is really good though.

The Elder Scrolls Online - I got sick of the MMO-ishness last year. Mostly i just took a break.

Cassette Beasts - After half an hour i decided i had too much on my plate earlier this year.

Games i want to give another shot

Transistor - Way back in 2017 the more complicated gameplay made me quit after 1,5 hours. But i loved Bastion so i really wanna try this and then maybe Pyre.

Winter Voices - Even longer ago, in 2014, i played this for 98 minutes. I don’t know why but it’s always been in the back of my mind to give it another go.

The Lion’s Song - Played the demo back in 2016, got the full game in a bundle and on Epic, never got around to it.

Star Wars: Squadrons - I never really gave this a proper chance while i do like Rebel Assault, TIE Fighter, X4, etc.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall - I played this a bit early on. I think it was too early after AOW3.

Age of Wonders 3 - Come to think of it, i never finished the Necromancer campaign.

Pillars of Eternity 1 - Apparently i loved this, but i can’t really remember anything. I wanna replay this on the normal difficulty instead of story and then go on to Pillars 2 and Avowed.

Life Is Strange - Not sure what happened here. I think i played the demo, marked it as played and forgot about it when i got the full version.

Games i have and want to try out (top 15)

Control - I didn’t like Alan Wake 1 and American Nightmare, but i think this is (very?) different.

What Remains of Edith Finch - Often see this mentioned along other games i like.

Celeste - Probably not for me but i wanna try it.

Pony Island - It’s weird and short.

Her Story - I like the concept.

The Beginner’s Guide - For some reason i never got around to it.

Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge - This looks cute. anarchistica's Review of Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge | Grouvee

Sorry We’re Closed - Saw this mentioned on MinnMax.

Wednesdays - Looks very interesting.

Citizen Sleeper - Apparently a really good series.

Unpacking - Another one that looks deep/interesting.

Sable - Looks cool.

Paradise Killer - Some people here really like it.

Mass Effect Andromeda - I just forgot i have this ready to install.

Telltale’s The Walking Dead - Season 2 - I bought this, then Telltale died and i never got to play it.

Games on my wishlist (top 10)

Gothic 1 Remake - The demo was good.

007 First Light - From the makers of Hitman.

The Outer Worlds 2 - Loved the first one.

Atomfall - From the makers of Sniper Elite.

Kingdom Come 2 - Loved the first one even though it was also kinda bad.

Inscryption - Cool demo. Love deckbuilding.

High on Life - From the makers of Rick & Morty.

Rue Valley - I liked the demo, just waiting for them to fix this up a bit.

Promise Mascot Agency - MinnMax loves this and so do some people here.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle - I just wanna punch Nazis. Also it’s supposed to be Hitman-light.

1000xResist - I wanna believe the hype.

More talking

I’m gonna return to this in a year and hopefully i will have played at least half of these. I also want to go through my backlog (648 games right now) and reduce it by 50 by moving low-priority games to the “not interested“ shelf or giving them a quick try.

So, anyone else got any gaming resolutions?

You need to try Pony Island! It’s one of my best experiences with gaming! Don’t look for spoilers! Go blind!

Edith & The Beginner’s Guide are essential too, especially if you like to talk about games with other people - and you can beat them in one evening.

I played Kamaeru because i thought it’s a casual strategy, but it is very typical idle clicker. It should be OK to kill time on public transport but you have much more interesting things on the list.

Thanks, i’ve added Pony and Guide to my priority category. I also figured out why i hadn’t played the Beginner’s Guide - i forgot to add the Humble key to Steam. :man_facepalming:

Installing Kamaeru right now, sounds like an easy game to cross off my list. :stuck_out_tongue:
