I was trying to look through code commits over the last month to see what all I’ve done. I apologize if I’m double posting any of these, but I wanted to give everyone a quick update because a lot has changed in just a month.

* * *

New Features

A brand-new Lists system, essentially the biggest feature in the period:

- Create public, private, or community lists of games
- Community lists: other users can add games and vote on them
- Ordered lists: manually drag-and-drop ordering with number badges on box art
- Convert shelf to list: existing shelf can be converted into a list

Complete redesign of the profile section, opt-in (use\_v2\_profile on your settings page):

- New profile, stats, activity, about, playthroughs, ratings, and reviews sub-pages
- Customizable favorite games title for Gold subscribers thanks to @killerstar (e.g. “My Top Games”)
- Top genres and top developers on your stats page

Review Drafts & New Review Page

- Reviews now have a draft field
- Auto-save drafts

Events Pages

- IGDB keeps track of events and what games were mentioned at events. Events are things like Pokemon Presents, Sony State of Plays, Summer Game Fest, etc.

Minor overhaul of the new shelf pages:

- LaunchBox-Style Shelf Browser
- Icon-based shelf nav in the left sidebar (different icons per shelf type, custom icon field on Shelf model)
- Tiled/Browse view. Clickable game grid. Clicking a game opens a detail dialog
- “Tell Me What To Play” button is finally live on the new shelf pages (that are like 5 years old now)

Top / Bottom Games Lists

- Tweaked the design of top / bottom games pages

Themes

- I’m downloading themes from IGDB now (fantasy, comedy, erotic, etc)
- Theme filtering on game list pages
- Erotic games exclusion added to search

Grouvee Gold Tiers

- Multiple subscription tiers/levels added
- Supporters page
- Upgrade path between tiers

Move Data

- “Move Data” button on game pages allowing users to move data between game entries

Activity Feed: Grouped Reviews

- When a user has 3+ reviews in a single feed batch, they’re collapsed into a single grouped activity item rather than spamming the feed

Steam Import Improvements

- New SteamImportedGame model tracking which games came from Steam imports
- Speed improvements for large imports
- Updated imported games page (you can see when a game was imported forever now).

Tweaks & Smaller Changes

- CSV export updated
- Help page updated
- TOS / Privacy Policy updated
- Various mobile layout fixes across profile, home, and list detail pages

Weeeee! Appreciate all your hard work! Looking good! And I love a place that calls a 5 year old feature “new shelf style” :-p My kind of place

Massive upgrade!

Would it be possible to add a “Currently Playing” feature akin to My Top Games on the profile as well?

I think that’s a good idea. I’ve been kind of trying to figure out what else maybe to put on that profile home tab. If someone hasn’t filled out their About section, and hasn’t set their top 5 games, and doesn’t use Grouvee to rate games at all, that page is very empty. There a lot of users like that on the site.

If you’ve got other ideas, I’m all ears (and eyes)!

Thanks for the updates and the update! I enjoy using the site 🙂

One thing i’d wish for is more automatic imports like it exists for Steam already. I realize this might be diffuclt or simply not possible because of the lack of APIs but i’d love to have more automated imports. Like my PS or Nintendo collection, playtime, achievements and so on 🙂

I haven’t done a deep dive on what apis exist in a while. Seems like there’s something available for GOG, but I don’t know about the consoles outside of scraping web pages. I’ll look into it again!

Cool, thank you! I thought maybe the profile pages are scrapable, as long as they are set to public.

A huge amount of work has been done! The changes are very pleasing, including the nice design. I’ve been waiting for this for many years. There’s one more thing I’ve been waiting for, and I’ve finally decided to ask for it. Is it possible to exclude games that are already in folders (and now also in lists) from the “All Games” page?

Thank you for your continuous work on this amazing platform. I have a question about Lists. How exactly are they different from shelves? From a single-user perspective, how would I use them differently? What are the pros and cons? What are common use cases for each? I’m not asking you to prescribe how to use them, but just for me to understand if I should move some of my shelves over to lists or not. Thanks again for your work! Much appreciated!

Yeah, I could see that being useful. I’ll have to think about the UI for that one. Probably just a checkbox somewhere.

Thank you for the kind words!

That is a good question. I initially didn’t do them long ago because shelves and lists on the surface feel very similar. However I think of games on shelves as games in my collection or wish list, and lists are a lot more open ended. I used this list: [The 20 JRPGs You Must Play | Kotaku (Jason Schreier) by peter | Grouvee](https://www.grouvee.com/user/1-peter/lists/1-the-20-jrpgs-you-must-play-kotaku-jason-schreier/) as my inspiration for personal lists. I wanted to have this list of games documented somewhere, but it always felt weird being categorized as a shelf for some reason. I don’t own half of these games either. Maybe I’ll use it as inspiration to add games to my collection. Creating top 10 of year 20XX feels kind of weird as a shelf to me too.

The community lists were the main reason I wanted to do this. I wanted a place the community could collaborate on games lists. I’m already very impressed and happy at what’s come out of it.

It’s really just a matter of taste of categorizing your games. You can use or not use lists however you want. This explanation is kind of what I was thinking about when I started building the feature.

If you have any ideas just let me know!

The option to exclude tangential results when searching (specifically erotic and bundled titles) is a welcome addition.

As a whole, the mobile experience has also improved drastically. Unsure what has/hasn’t impacted it, but I’ve noticed a marked improvement when searching and viewing on the site via Firefox Mobile.

</div>

So I added a button to the top of the /games/ page. It’s a toggle button, hide my games/show my games. It saves the preference in a session, so it’s not exactly permanent, but it sticks around for a while. I filter out any games that are on your shelves. I didn’t filter out games on lists though. I was kind of playing around with it, and I have games on a list that I don’t have in a collection, and I imagine a lot of people will be that way as well. Let me know what you think!

Edit: I also added these buttons to the top 250 and bottom 100 pages. That way people can see what games they have on shelves from those lists.

By default, the “All Games” page is sorted by the number of ratings, but after clicking on the new button, it changes to a different sort. And there is no “Sort by” menu for sorting by the number of ratings to restore it. If it were possible to add sorting by the number of ratings, as well as “In Collection”, “Wish listed”, “Playing”, and “Backlogged”, it would be great!
