I got it working, fairly easily actually. I think I might have been getting mixed up with DosBox. 😅

Random question, but does anyone have any of the old [Sega Game/ My Cards](https://sega.fandom.com/wiki/Sega_Card) that they might be able to take a photo of for me?

I think it would be cool to make an emulation device from a ps2 memory card.

lol, did you also post this to Instagram? I was scrolling yesterday and saw this device, but I didn’t catch the person who posted it. Was it was you?

I love that it has the old Sony logo on it. Better times!

No, it wasn’t me. I found it on the Substack, so maybe it was the same person.

> Looks cool but I don’t know exactly what it is

The link explains it, but basically it’s an 80’s computer where all the “guts” is inside of the keyboard. They didn’t come with monitors, so you could hook it up to your telly. There’s a lot more info on [the wiki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSX).

I can’t help but think how cool it would be to write on.

Like what @anon30672897 said, a computer housed in a keyboard. It’s much like the Apple II or the Commodore 64. And like those other platforms the MX platform ran on a variant of Basic. Eventually it switched to DOS.

I LOVE the simplicity of it. Obviously for a very specific use case, but still. There are modern [electronic typewriters](https://getfreewrite.com/) but the _cheapest_ is $350.

Surly there would be a market for cheaper such items that are similar to the Sony machine around the $100 mark.

Are you familiar with the [Raspberry Pi 400](https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/raspberry-pi-400/)? I’ve come close to grabbing one a few times just because it’s a neat concept.

Oooh, that does look really cool. This might be the kind of thing I’d be interested in getting once my laptop packs it in and/or I get a Steam Deck for gaming. I’ll certainly keep an eye on this, cheers mate.

Many years ago I made a Raspberry Pi retro device. It was pretty cool, but only did up to 5th gen, but couldn’t run everything. Have you used an RP much at all? I wonder if they are at the stage where they can work as a lightweight PC now? Kind of like Chromebook, but not tied to Android?

The Pi 400 is a lot more powerful that earlier Raspberry Pi models. Here’s a benchmark diagram comparing it with older models.

It would be about as powerful as a budget Android phone and could run Linux without an issue. Not a powerhouse machine, but decent.

Arrived earlier than expected. Console is quite tiny so for games I have to play with a continuously pressed button (like running in smw or dkc), my hands cramp a bit after a few mins. Two notes: probably everything up to N64 runs well but mario 64 is unplayable. Roms come loaded but, as it’s a chinese translation a few are so odd: “donkey kong country” was a 5-minutes demo with some of the stages swapped (1-1 1-3 1-2) which after 5 mins, it froze completely. The full game, however, was named “Super king kong”. And my last note was that there was not a button (I have found of) that returns you to the main menu. Now I found that the actual main menu combination was start+select. Anyhow.

It should be able to play Mario64, it might be a rom issue. Thats one of the first games people test on any of these for n64 emulation. Also i had to look this one up as i hadnt heard of it. Some people are claiming itll play psp and dreamcast, which is a little bit better than others at its price point.

FYI, Raspberry PI released the updated Pi 500 which runs on the Pi 5 chip. Definitely a significant upgrade in power and OS support.

I miss the orange and white two-tone design, but it’s still nice. And they even made an official monitor.
