I did a two day course in forging a kitchen knife earlier this week. One steel billet, one oversized piece of wood, two days of heat and endless stream of instructions, and this is the result. Its not perfect, but it is mine.

That’s sooo cool!
My project this weekend was to learn to make a shirt. I had a bit of a setback because I printed and cut a pattern with the wrong measures, so this is all I was able to get done today in my library’s maker space

Yes! My girlfriend and I e are making it a habit of going there every Saturday from opening hours until they kick us out. It’s a very neat place where community meets and form. People talk about their projects, learn, make use of community tools to improve their lives. It’s amazing.
Melbourne City Library has three maker spaces fully equipped. The one we go to has several sowing machines, an embroidery machine, 4 3D printers, laser cutters, and more. There is even a 3D scanner in one of the other ones. It’s a great use of public money. Makes me happy to pay my taxes.

I travel to a conference tomorrow, so I decided to try my luck at designing and making an eye mask. It works. A bit wonky, but that’s ok.
