I don’t know how you arrived at that conclusion.
Because that’s how your reply came across; patronising.
Well in the one hand I agreed with you that the Terrifier movies aren’t good. On the other you have to admit it’s kind of hyperbolic to equate cinematic gore with snuff, so I was engaging with you on that claim and why I don’t think it’s an apt comparison. Just because I don’t fully agree with you doesn’t mean I think you’re “stupid.”
i saw Juror #2! Eastwood delivers a matter of fact legal drama that i think would be a fun double feature with Evil Does Not Exist- both movies about the broken systems people find themselves in and the actions regular people take in self preservation. Evil Does Not Exist is the better of the two films, but I definitely would not turn my nose up at another watch of Juror #2. some half written tertiary characters and the occasional odd direction did not prevent me from leaning in throughout.
i also saw Nightbitch. i have long been an admirer of amy adams’ work and she gets to shine here. the film is funny, surreal, horrifying (in a campy body horror sort of way), and dramatic, and adams rolls with all of it. my one real issue is that nightbitch’s plot feels like it is just kicking off when the movie ends. i guess leave them wanting more, right?
Wow that was fast.
Even so, Sharknado is better than a boring film.
I mean, Sharknado is awful, but it’s better than an awful and boring film.
Concerning Sonic movies, I liked Sonic 2 pretty much. I liked Eggman and Knuckles specially, but I still think it’s a pity the decided to include the infamous human substory. I don’t care about humans in a Sonic movie, but it’s worse if it’s so bad.
And film critics said “there should be more humans”, proving again the can’t understand what they are watching.
Why was that fast? I thought it was a good argument. I love Con Air, but Id never call it a "good movie
"
Sonic 2 has been my favourite thus far. TBH I like Tom and Maddie as characters (I mean, Tika is ) well enough, but I’d not miss them if they weren’t in 4. They are fairly sidelined in 3, though.
That said, my perfect take would have been closer to the games; humans and Sonic exist in the same world/ on the same planet (not our Earth) with the animals living on various islands (South Island, Christmas Island, Nagel Island, etc) with the humans on the mainland. The only human they really cross paths with is Eggman, at least until the events of the Adventure games.
The whole movie would have been animated (preferably in the style of the games’ better CG cutscenes) with no “real” actors.
My hope is that in future movies Sonic returns to his home world (as the Rings can apparently transport you anywhere) and it becomes less set on Earth. While I do really enjoy the films, from a personal/fanboy angle there is a lot I’d change.
Con Air is a cinematic masterpiece! Lol
Yeah, I remember watching the first one and thinking it would’ve been cooler to see more of Sonic’s world [the Green Hill Zone]. I believe the Sonic X cartoon took the same approach of Sonic coming into the “real world”, but it is what it is at this point
You know, now that I think of it, Mario is always the opposite. Both in the movies and in the old cartoons, Mario and Luigi are from the “real world” [Brooklyn, New York] and find themselves in the…Mushroom Kingdom
Maybe I should re-watch one of these today. I was hoping to take my lady to the movies again, but unfortunately she had to cancel at the last minute once again due to health problems [nothing serious]
I never get the hate for the human characters in the Sonic movies. I think they’re funny. They’re not boring like Chris from Sonic X or the princess from Sonic 06. I’m not annoyed by parts like the wedding scene in the Sonic 2 movie, because I’m laughing the whole time.
I didn’t mean I dislike that. I think given the direction they went the human characters are pretty great. I just meant that, in a perfect world, I’d have preferred it to be set in Sonic’s world with humans more on the periphery.
I wasn’t really responding to your take, since you said you liked the characters. Was going more off Daninokuni’s comment and similar sentiments I’ve seen online a hundred other times lately.
Well I can be clear here: the wedding scene is one of the worst scenes I haven’t seen in a movie, and it made the whole film worse. XD
I actually thought it was a lot of fun.
Junkyard Wars has been added to Prime Video…so uh…i guess i know what im watching for…how many seasons are there? Only one…so an afternoon lol
Wrapping up 2024 in this thread with this list of movies/anime I watched for the first time or rewatched after many years of not having watched them.
One of the best Aussie films, Gettin’ Square, is recieving a sequel starring the original film’s best character, Spit. Looks great.
My free YouTube movie today was “Deck the Halls”. I remember seeing it in the theatre back when it was out; it’s a family Christmas movie where a guy [Danny DeVito] wants to put so many Christmas lights on his house that it could be seen from space. That was all I remembered
I thought it was him competing with his neighbor, Steve, in terms of lights-- but mostly Steve just didn’t like the lights, so they hated each other as neighbors
I liked how their wives became friends; that was cute. If I have a cute wife someday…I will try very hard to keep her happy by not firing f-reworks at the neighbor’s house. Kind of worried about my lady currently; she’s not responding to texts all of a sudden : [
You’re not believe this, but at the end the two men become friends So, that will be a happy ending…a new beginning for them
That was one of the Christmas movies covered by the “We Hate Movies” podcast last month. Funny episode (as most are).
Picked up the Karate Kid collection at an out-of-town Dollar Store yesterday, so we watched the Karate Kid today ! Mother really liked it
It’s about a Kid who learns Karate [eventually]. I remember watching one of those video essays that’s like…Daniel is really the bad guy ! I don’t know about that; I guess we’re all the heroes of our own stories
I liked seeing Daniel and Ali getting to know each other. I really hope things work out for me and my lady too. They should make one where Daniel and Johnny have to team up to save Ali. It would be called: RIVER CITY RANSOM. But really, a Karate Kid beat 'em up? Could such a thing ever exist ?!
I remember having the novel long, long ago, when I was little. I noticed that they always misspelled the word “focused” as “focussed”. Hope someone got fired for that blunder. Also, they had Mr. Miyagi take on the evil sensei at the end, which didn’t seem to happen here ?
Will have to watch Karate Kid 2 next; I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one as far as I remember
There is a karate kid beat em up that came out pretty recently actually. I havent played it, but reviews seem to point towards it being pretty generic
