oh, also, saw TETRIS last night. Whoia, it was totally not anything i expected it to be but i didnt really have any expectations. Great glimpse into how crazy the soviet union was. some people seem to dog on it because its not abouit the game as much as about the story of the fighting for publishing rights and what a mess it was. There was a lot more to the story than I realized though

I made a separate forum for the Mario movie as I anticipate some chatter

Although I’ve been recommending this doc to people for years, I’ve been doing so quite a bit more recently because it’s a much less hyperbolic take, without all the Hollywood liberties, than the recent movie:

I’ll see it, but it’s not a “big” movie for me. Soz, man.

@BMO How old is that docco? Not heard of it before but will certainly give it a watch.

well now, i feel like i have an obligation to watch that cause i’m curious about the situation due to the way the movie i saw obviously embellished it all.

Oh, I should maybe mention here that I recently saw an anime called Mad Bull 34 and thoroughly enjoyed it. (It’s over the top and very adult oriented so be warned if thats not for u) But the reason i mention it here is because the whole thing reminded me of the setting and style of Capcom’s Final Fight… The way it depicts New York in this exaggerated chaotic way. I felt like Mike Haggar (the mayor) MIGHT have been based on the protagonist, who is the ‘mad bull’. I’m curious if anyone else might also see it this way, or feel it might have inspired the show, (or maybe the manga inspired the game?). It’s a fairly short OVA and only had like 4 episodes.

I watched the Double Dragon movie last year and thought, they should’ve made a Final Fight movie. One with Poison <3

Though, I think it was partially inspired by a movie called “Streets of Fire”

been a while since I watched double dragon. I loved that car engine idea of feeding it trash

Rewatched the first 3 John Wick films in prep for the 4th. I think the first is the best, the gun-fu in that is just too notch. Hope the 4th is as good.

Just watched Oshi no Ko premiere episode. It’s the second major work by the author of Kaguya-sama: Love is War. Despite having enjoyed thus far his most popular work, I watched this one having zero expectations. I was completely blown away. I genuinely think this might be a serious contender for the title of anime of the year.
