Movies and TV, Anyone?

Do yourself a favour and watch Christmas Evil, you won’t regret it.

And of course, never pass up a chance to watch Black Christmas, not only possibly the best Christmas horror, but one of the best slashers ever made.

I’ve been thinking of starting that as I have Paramount + right now to watch The Curse (it’s fine, started watching Yellowjackets which is filling the LOST sized hole in my heart). Let us know what you think.

Maestro establishes that A Star is Born was not a one off and that Bradley Cooper is a proficient director. It’s beautifully shot and precisely performed with a spectacular score. Also, and I basically never think about this when watching something, but this has excellent make up.

8/10 I’ll definitely rewatch at some point in the future.

I took it to mean the afterlife. Didn’t know people thought she’d comitted suicide.

Wife and I went to see Wonka a few night back. Loved it! If you enjoyed the Padington movies (and if you didn’t you have no heart) or the Gene Wilder film I’d highly recommend it.

I love Pokemon Concierge. It is a calming simple show that shows the relaxing and human side of working in hospitality with an emphasis on cute Pokemon being cute. The animation is playful and bright- making for many an appealing screenshot. The plot is pretty inconsequential, but you’ll want low stakes from this show. It is the anti-White Lotus. It is for vicariously vacationing, not schadenfreude. If you just need a restful hour, put this on.

7/10, closer to an 8 than a 6

After watching [and playing] Batman Returns for the Christmas, decided to watch Batman this time ! Batman was in it, and so was Joker

– This particular Batman is always meeting interesting be-spectacled Maidens [Vicki Vale, Selina Kyle]; I could do that but I don’t feel like it right now

– And there seems to be a recurring theme where he falls in love with them but struggles to tell them “I’M BATMAN”…so, these relationships can never come to be. What a dilemma

– Also a rare[?] instance of a Bruce Wayne who wears glasses; who does he think he is, CLARK KENT?!

– The Batmobile/Batplane seems to have whatever gadget it needs. It looked like he k-lled those guys with a Batmobile bomb in the final battle ? Batman doesn’t k-ll people; everyone knows that

– I don’t think–AFAIK–Batman and Joker fighting over a lady is really what their canon dynamic is like, exactly. When she distracted Joker for Batman to sneak up on him…Jafar would never fall for that !

– “This is where I watched my parents die, PaRappa.” That should be the next movie; I’d watch the h–k out of that

– Oh, both movies have him/antagonist recognizing each other though an improbable thing they say. “Dance with the Devil in the pale moonlight” “I say that to all my victims”… except, if you watch carefully, he clearly DOESN’T ! Oh well. What a joker

– The Batsignal, which seems to be their answer to everything in Returns [fight the circus gang, save the Ice Princess, etc.]

– Alfred’s cool [but rude? Certainly not!]

While I do not like Space Jam: A New Legacy, it is basically the same as the last 10 Marvel movies.

The message of Batman is that even if you kill some billionaires, their kids will still have a pretty cool life.

This is my fav Batman fun fact because if you said it about anyone else it would raise serious concerns. “Oh Jim in accounting?” He wouldn’t murder anybody. It’s like his whole thing!" “Oh it’s wild. He even knows the perfect amount of strength to knock someone out but not kill them!” “Yea Jim tossed those people off a moving elevated train, but they’re alive. It’s not like Jim from accounting is a murderer! He wouldn’t do that!”

The first Space Jam was one of the greatest movies of all time–New Legacy was more like “look at all these Warner Bros. characters!” It’s like Ralph Breaks the Internet. As for “Dom Ball”, I think I’d prefer Domme Ball myself

I don’t know about Batman, I’d think a life like that could be a little stressful at times. Though, I guess we all have our own battles, in a sense

I love Promising Young Woman so this has been on my radar for a bit. Have you seen Fennell’s short film Careful How You Go?

So true. After seeing that film I believe too many movies are following the Marvel “formula”.

I haven’t seen Careful As You Go, have you?

bad guy: ‘I just killed your whole family. everyone you know and love is gone and I will leave you alive to suffer. you can’t fight me. you knew this would happen’

quirky, unique super hero protag: ‘WELL THAT JUST HAPPENED, AMIRITE GUYS?! AMIRITE GUYS!!??’

i fucking hate how common one liners are in modern marvel movies. I preferred when they were just used occasionally to break tension and give the audience a chuckle or two.

Do not watch the Marvels. Cat puking up people etc.

I thought it was a fun time :man_shrugging:

yeah I’ve heard it wasn’t the most solid marvel film. I stopped watching them a while ago and I don’t really watch a lot of films to be honest. I mostly heard of the Marvels film because of people either saying ‘AH IT HAS WOMEN IN IT!!! I HATE THIS WOKE LIBTARD PROPAGANDAH’ or ‘AHH!!! ANGRY INCELS! YOU ONLY DISLIKE THE FILM BECAUSE OF TEH WAHMEN!!!’ and if a film has that kind of extreme opinions around it it just doesn’t interest me. I think I’d rather watch an 5 hour french film about a man with constipation on the toilet reflecting on his life choices then 5 films pumped out by the Mr. Mouse company. Plus I hated how they handled the SW sequel trilogy. I think they have a reputation of alienating longtime fans from their properties.

Drag Race thoughts y’all?

Depends on which one you’re watching. I’m still watching Canada before I start the new season of the US version.
