Joystiq Closing

This was posted a few days ago, so I know I’m late to the party.

It bums me out because they’re still the place I go to for news headlines. The site was actually what inspired me to start Grouvee as a video game blog so long ago. I always liked the tone of the site, and it was the easiest place for me to go figure out what was going on in the industry. Places like Polygon, Kotaku, and even Giant Bomb have so much other “stuff” on their site, that it’s hard sometimes to just filter out what’s going on.

I’ll miss you Joystiq (if you’re actually closing).

It’s a bit early for a April Fool’s joke.

This:

Sources tell Joystiq that the staff is aware of the closure, but corporate hasn’t officially told them, so they are unable to acknowledge anything out of concern that it will cause immediate shutdown.

I worked for a place once that did this. They wouldn’t tell us they were closing down, but everyone knew it. So they probably posted this out of irritation. I mean, what’ll they do, fire them for it? All they do is delay you in finding a new job.
