Grouvee Gold Updates

I love these suggestions. Stuff like a cheat sheet, trending info, and access to who’s playing what should be on the site, and free for everyone. Like you said, I think there’s a lot of good stuff untapped on this site. I see games pass through my feed that I get real interested in because my friends on the site play cool games and post about them.

I think the most realistic one to do in the sort term is to create a category on the forums for Gold users. You already can PM people on the forums, although they would have had to visit the forums once for you to be able to do that the way I currently have the site setup. The reason is your forum account doesn’t get created until you click the Forums link for the first time on the main site. I’ll change that eventually where everyone has a forum account automatically.

Thanks for taking the time to express your thoughts. I went ahead and built a popular games page today because I’ve wanted to for a long time, and I think it’s one of the items you’re asking for. If you go to Grouvee’s Most Popular Games this Week, you’ll see the 25 most popular games on the site this week. I sort of had a lightning strike idea about how to implement it, and I think it worked really well. The problem I’ve had with trying to make a page like this is that the games were always the same. That’s because new users tend to add the most games to their shelves. That makes total sense. Once you have your collection on the site, you don’t need to add nearly as many games as often. Therefore, the same games would show up in the list all the time (Skyrim, Portal, BioShock, etc). I just realized that if I ignore activities from users that are less than a month old, I bet I’d get a pretty good list. I think it turned out really good. Let me know what you think!

That’s great. That’s exactly the stuff I’d like to see more of on Grouvee. This looks like a great and simple idea. and even if it isnt ‘balanced’ it could stll be helpful to someone like me, as I am a discovery user. (Current types of users on the site seem to be in three archetypes and they are Discoverer, Social and OCD/Loggers) I can sort of get a feel for how some of these games might show up on the pop25 list. Final Fantasy is no suprise, it’s new, its no doubt being played by EVERYONE and certainly being wishlisted and its talked about as well. but some… suprise me! I wonder what got King Arthur’s Gold on that list!

Intersting. yes makes sense.

That top 25 is a great idea. Time to time you have mentioned other things like this and I am guilty of not exploring the sorting options of the search that much as is but having little lazy buttons people who dont know the site so well would be helpful to discovering things. There is a whole bunch of possibility here for finding things with what grouvee already can look at I would imagine. We arguably dont even need to know what is ‘rising’ in popularity, something i am betting grouvee can’t currently know, since it isnt tracking how popular KAG is on a week to week basis. (or is it?)

am curious what the top 25 lists per genre might be over a longer duration of say… a month? Action RPG, etc. clicky buttons for that sort of list generation would be great way to find stuff if could get the balance right. It could be something to play with if you want to test what you looking at and tweak it. In either case that list looks intersting enough to test more, it yielded some stuff that was intersting such as KAG, which you def wouldnt see show up on the top 100 list. I wonder what else grouvee could look at to make suggestions like that. I saw on your personal profile you found a daily sale. a bigger change was noticed in the shorter time frame?

My fav feature of the site is the new releases. Giant Bomb also discovers some interesting content that really shouldnt even show up like that NES cartridge release of a chip tune artist. (it showed up as a new NES release)
