Can you tell Iâm bored at work on a Sunday with nothing to do?
crap. i added a dupe by mistake. I was wondering why i couldnât find it in the database and itâs cause of the accented characters. Sorry! Iâm usually quite careful to avoid this!
is there perhaps a way to be able to find a title with an accented character like this just by searching with unaccented characters? (searching for 'silent mobius" will yield any matching result for " Silent Möbius")
Done Tho that is a good question about accent characters, etc.
Yes. I can add aliases to games. They normally get added over on Giant Bomb pretty well, but this one didnât get done correctly. Iâve added one to this game so you donât need to type the accent.
Appears thereâs two entries for Rainy Season.
Not sure if this has always been the norm, but Imma start âLikingâ comments to signify that they are being done. (Like the game page edit thread, this is to avoid a bunch of âdoneâ comments) Cheers <3
One of these two has not yet been approved by the grouvee curator team, and maybe it shouldnât.
Babble Royale has a couple entries, with the second one not being in anyoneâs collection but having some details on it that would be good to have on the first one.
Disc Jam also has two entries:
Huniepop 2 has two entries.
We have another game where one of the entries has not been approved by the grouvee curator team yet:
@peter I have a couple of related questions. Whatâs up w/ stuff like 1989 Movie Batmobile Pack (2015) | Grouvee and 1989 Movie Batmobile Pack (2015) | Grouvee ? Should these be merged? Do purchasable goods count as DLC? Thereâs a number of things like gem packs for any given game throughout the database.
Another observation - in my library, when we catalog something that is or could be a dupe, we get a pop up message that says, basically, âthis looks an awful lot like ____, are you sure you want to add it?â and then you can review if youâre importing a duplicate or not. Is tech like that available for users who go to add stuff that already exists?
Also, itâs too bad libraries (well, specifically LC) arenât better about cataloging (and standardizing) video games, so Grouvee or Giant Bomb can pull data from those records and get consistent info and formatting for titles and what not.
Long story short, these are basically the same IP:
The first one is like a 3DS remake of the other, which I think was a mobile F2P?
Anyone have input? Merge or no?
So this is a result of the terrible way that Giant Bombâs DLC is exposed on their API. Each platform that a DLC comes out on is exposed as a new separate entry. I could theoretically program something that looks at the names of the DLC, and tries to merge the entries automatically, but they also donât name them the same all the time. They probably should be merged, and then just add whatever platform was merged to the other one. Thereâs so many of them though.
I know this isnât exactly what youâre asking, but I am working on some more automated ways for people to suggest merges. Maybe it could be used in a scenario like youâre suggesting.
I would love to have a more standardized database. Iâve said it for years. I should either move to IGDB, or finish building my own.
